God still uses Keith's music

This evening I was reflecting on the things God has been doing in my life over the past year, which has been a tough but growing time. I pulled out a couple CDs of Keith's music and started listening as I was praying, reading the Bible and writing in my journal. I still find God speaks to me so clearly through these songs, just as He used them when I was a teen.

As a teen I listened to Keith on the vinyl records and subscribed to the Last Days Newsletters. (I still have both the records and magazines.) They were influencial in my spiritual development then, and still are now. (I still remember hearing about the plane crash on my 18th birthday.)

Thank you for the role Keith and your ministry have had on my life. I am now a husband and father of three, a high school teacher and lay leader in my church. God still is working as I learn to trust and obey in new ways each day. And even now in 2009 God uses Keith's music in my life!

Topic started by Don

5 replies. Last reply from Kees van Dijk on 6/12/2012 8:57 AM

Hi there! Most guys probably think Keith impacted lotsa people in US. True but to add weight to that truth, it wasn't just US but all around the world. For example , myself in Kenya,Africa. I tend to think that Keith has impacted more after his death than during his 28 years like his Master our Lord. Kudos Mel for making his story known to the world. You've no idea how you have touched lives by being brave enough to write 'No Compromise'. I can only stand amazed when I hear a film of Keiths life is now in the pipeline. May it succeed.

Topic started by Phillip Mwai

A Challenge to All

Never in my life as a Christian has anyone's music moved me like Keith's music did, and does! God worked so powerfully through him. The anointing was strong with Keith. His music, then and now, challenges all Christians to look at their walk with God, and offers the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ. i was blessed to have seen him in concert when he came to Seattle. I loved all Keith's music, one of my favorite songs was "I Don't Want to Fall Away From You." Once upon a time I had all of Keith's record releases, but they were stolen and I have not yet been able to replace them. My prayer is that whoever took them was able to find salvation through the music, and was gracious enough to pass them on to someone else that needed to hear the salvation message through Keith's music. When I heard of the plane crash, a part of my heart died that day, but Keith's music is still reaching out to people everywhere today. Truly that grain of wheat has produced a bountiful harvest. Thank you Melody for continuing on.

Topic started by Cyndi Larsen

1 replies. Last reply from on 3/30/2012 8:19 PM

Melody - Still Song Writing?

Melody, you've wrote some truely wonderful songs which I love to play guitar and worship God with. After watching the "First Love" DVD last night (everbody singing My Redeemer Lives) I was wondering if you've been led to write any more wonderful songs since the 70's/80's? Any chance you'll ever release album of your own worship music or some mp3's of songs we've never heard?

Topic started by Michael Skalisky

HELP

Hello LDM, I have been reading the book "No Compromise", and as a struggling (defeated) Christian, I am absolutely mystified and mesmerized by how instantly Keith and Melody were transformed, I have been trying to serve god since 1999 but I have been in and out of Christian residential rehabs from 1999 to now, I have preached, prophesied, cast out devils, and still I dont seem to have the victory, I am reading the book and I am looking for "what" actually happened to Keith and Melody, it seems like "they just got it", I know that many Christians are struggling as I do, and I would like to ask for any insight, I see that Keith and Melody saw this paradox in their early walk and it was greatly troubling Keith, I am only half way through the book so I am not sure if an answer awaits in the book or not, but that is why I bought it, I am looking for answers/help. Sometimes I feel like I dabbled with such a great evil that I simply cannot get out but at the same time, how could God use me to lead souls to Christ, heal and deliver knowing I am going to fall and then become a horrible witness to the saints, I sooo do not want to be a stumbling block to babes in Christ but clearly if I cannot stop smoking crack then maybe I am a babe in Christ as well, no matter how much work I know or how many people I have lead to Christ or sermons preached or any of that stuff, Keith wrote a letter where he signed it "your baby" and that is the intimacy I want with God, I am studying new teaching by Dan Mohler concerning identity and the love of Christ but I thought I would ask for help here, any comments are greatly appreciated and i am very thick skinned so give it to me straight, Love Brandon

Topic started by BRANDON W

In the early 70's someone gave me some music tapes of Keith Green and my heart sang. I was a new Christian; just parked the bus outside our $1500.00 house in a little town. the music and the LDM newsletters were so welcomed and poured over. This was the real faith; not the motions of religion and I became stronger. Thank you. susie

Topic started by Susan Hughes

As a new believer back in 1987 a dear friend introduced me to Keith Green's music.... (I didn't know such praise through songs like his existed). I've come to buy all of music, and it still is my favorite. His music inspires me to press on, and remember what is important to our Lord. Thank-you Melody, and all those involved with LDM.

Topic started by Lora Glenn

1 replies. Last reply from on 7/31/2010 5:41 PM

Keith and Melody's ministry has had a huge impact on our lives and our ministry for years. I had been singing many of Keith's songs in churches and have continued to do so over the years, always with most times with comments like, "who wrote that song" or "what a message in that song" etc. Thanks to Keith and Melody for their commitment to the ministry. Check out our youtube site, StepsOfFaith7 to hear a musical tribute to Keith from my son, Chris, and myself. God Bless.

Keith came into the California Mens Colony (medium State Prison) to minister to the Lord and Us. His dedication to Jesus and to minister to the inmates has forever inpacted my life. I was the sound man for the chapel and the anointing of God was all over Keith and all of us. Many gave their hearts to Jesus, and I for one am still serving the Lord because ofthat day when Jesus visited me in Prison.

Topic started by robert white

I am almost finished reading "No Compromise" for the 3rd time. I can't tell you why I picked it up again but I just needed to read it again. I am amazed at the lessons God has taught me in it's pages. Over the last few weeks I have had an overwhelming desire to see this story turned into a film. I have a vivid sense of what it could look like. When I clicked on to the web site tonight, I was so excited to see that the vision for a film has already been birthed! I am excited to begin praying for this project and eagerly await the outcome! God Bless!

Topic started by Janey

Keiths music has healed me in different stages in my life and spiritual life. I was born a new christian 2:d of march 1993. Since then I have walked away from Jesus several times, but the thing that always has made me coming back to the Lord is Keiths music. I have lived a homosexual life and now I feel I am with Jesus again and this time I will STAY! The Lord is in the endphase of healing me completly from homosexuality and I have started to pray for my wife. I am so thirsty for the Lord now.
So I thank you Jesus for anointing your servant Keith Green and I thank you that you still anoint his music for people to be touched by you Jesus.

In Him
Jonathan Borgsjö

Topic started by Jonathan Borgsjö

Live recording of the prodigal son suite?

Hi,

Recently I heard somebody say that she'd heard a live recording of the Prodigal Son Suite. Does anybody perhaps have a copy of that?
It would really help me when I'm going to perform the song myself. (Just like the other live recordings really inspired me for those songs)

I was also wondering if anyone had other songs that aren't publicly sold anymore.

Right now I have:
-The 78 songs of the two "The Ministry Years" volumes (And some live recordings of some of them)
-"Your love came over me"
-"Happy Birthday to You" (which is VERY good, you should buy it if you don't have it already!)
(-Michael W. Smith's recording of "There is One")

And before he became a Christian:
-The album "The Early Word - EP"
-The album "Keith Green Live - His Incredible Youth"
-"Go-go-getter"
-"The way I used to be"

Melody, if you read this: If you have other amazing songs like "Happy birthday to You" that can bless thousands, just like his published songs, please let us know!

Uhh... well... feel free to reply :)

Blessings!!!

Topic started by Simeon Visscher

When I became a believer in 1986 I was so green, I had no idea there was even such a thing as contemporary christian music. The couple who led me to Jesus handed me a bunch of cassettes, most of which consisted of someone I'd never heard of, Keith Green. As I listened to those tapes in my car, over and over again my spirit started to awaken to the Holy Spirit. I truly credit the songs and the heart that was able to bring them forth with instiling in me a passion for God that has lasted to this day. Now my daughter, almost the age that I was when I came to Christ, says Keith's music and life has had the most impact on her faith. Thanks Keith and Melody for allowing the Lord to use you, for being bravehearted and passionate - it stood out then and still now.

Topic started by Jason + Karen Hamilton

working at LDM

I'll never forget the first time I saw Keith in concert and it so confirmed in t that I wanted to sell out for God. I took a DTS at the Twin Oaks YWAM base in 1981. I saw Keith in concert there that year also. Many of us from th base would travel down the road to LDM to help put during a "burn" schedule. I remember very late shifts, popcorn with Spike, a shrink wrap machine that Keith liked to "gently" encourage to work, and Dawn. Every once in a while I would end up sitting next to Dawn counting tracts. Like many, I'll never forget where I was the night of the crash. I was at the Twin Oaks base in the girl's dorm. The weather was very weird and we had opened the big double door. I was sitting there and heard sirens which were not that common in the area, and I prayed as I always do when I hear sirens. Later the phone rang and the person on the line told me the news. I thought she was lying and told her this was not a funny joke. I walked out of the dorm and up to the gym to the realization the it wasn't a joke. You know... I walked around and around the YWAM base praying for Melody, Dawn and staff that I knew. Then God impressed on me to pray for "the baby" I had no idea at the time what that meant at the time. Keith left a powerful legacy that has touched so many lives. I was sad to hear when LDM left that property. I had no idea you guys were back up and running until tonight when I found your site kind of round about from facebook. Praise God that the message continues. Melody, you are a very strong woman to come through this and continue in following that clear strong voice of the Holy Spirit guiding you to bring beauty from the ashes. I had heard about your work in abortion and with unwed moms through Bev. This sight is incredible!!! Thank you for fanning the flame of conviction in many hearts.

Topic started by Traci Eshun

The Prodigal Son Suite

This is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard, secular or Christian! I have read both versions of No Compromise. If memory serves me right, I thought Keith wrote and/or was working on "Prodigal Son" before he Knew Christ as Messiah and Savior. Also, I thought that the first "No Compromise" said he played it in a bar (again before he was saved) and everyone stopped conversing and there was not a dry eye in the house. I believed this because it is one of the most moving songs I have ever heard! If I am wrong about that someone let me know.
