Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.

I’ll start!

I first heard Keith at the Anaheim Convention Center around 1982? I had barely become a Christian and I was listening to Keith's albums. The concert was free and since I live ten minutes away, I drove down and waited in line. I remember overhearing an Usher telling a newer Usher to just watch when they have to close the doors. It made the new guy worry and he asked if there would be trouble. The experienced guy shrugged his shoulders and said, "No, never you won't believe it. These guys just turn and go home! Easiest money you're gonna make tonight!" As I entered the arena, it was all a buzz. When some guy made the announcement and said Keith's name, there was nobody on the stage! There was just a piano. I was so surprised when this hippie guy walked past me and got on the stage! I don't know where Keith had come from but that already startled me. He pretty much invited the Holy Spirit in, escorted us into worship, introduced those who didn't know Jesus to meet Him and left us quietly as he played MY EYES ARE DRY. From that day on I have strived to be like Jesus and was so blessed to have had that experience with Keith. He was an incredible witness here on Earth and I cannot wait to see Him in Paradise!

As a new believer I was saved without the enfluence of a church background so everything was new to me I didnt understand the language and I really cant tell you how I first discovered Keiths music but what I can tell you is it changed my life it helped a baby christian learn the true meaning of being a believer through Keiths music his music touched my heart like no one ever has.The morning of his departure I woke up with a odd feeling that I did not understand when I heard of his death I was sad because the world had lost a true child of God.

We went to one of his concerts in San Diego in the early 80's. There were so many people in line outside waiting to get into the concert and we were told that it was "sold out." As we were standing in line, we saw Keith walking around outside looking at all the people waiting. He was filled with so much compassion that he decided to do another concert after the first concert. We were able to see him in that second concert. I know he must have been so tired after the first concert and yet he still did the second one which touched our hearts so much. I became a christian in 1977 and my husband Tollie had led me to the Lord. I didn't know much about Christians being raised in a non-christian family, so this christian life was new to me. To this day, when we are ministering to people, weather through feeding the homeless, working at the church food bank, or whatever the Lord has for us, we do it for the Lord no matter how tired we are. That is what Keith's example taught us. Thank you so much for keeping his memory and his music alive! God Bless!

I first heard a song of Keith Green when I was in my first quarter of college..I loved the song...his voice was amazing...yet more amazing was what the words said in his song...about this Jesus...yes I have heard of Jesus...and thought I was a follower.....yet, this man seemed to have a deeper relationship with this Jesus...I was truly touched...but would fall away for many years...yet never forgot the lyrics that Keith Green sang. I wanted to know more about him when I heard this man sing...but then found out he was not even alive...that he died in a plane accident. Even though I walked away from Jesus...for many years...not understanding or maybe because I searched...but was lost still. Even in those times I walked away..I continued to listen to Keith Green....then the day came and I rededicated my life to the Lord....I pursued even harder of the relationship I wanted with Christ...I would have to say...Keith Green even though in heaven was one of the biggest reasons I made it back to Jesus...Jesus being the first...for He never stopped pursing me. Love you all and the Last Day Ministries...God Bless...Penny

I went to college in the Boston area, and got to hear Keith at a concert at Tremont Temple near Park Street in 1978 or '79. I loved the rollicking piano grooves and soulful singing, but was somewhat disappointed that he didn't sing as much as a regular concert performer. But when I listened to what Keith was saying and the authority with which he spoke, I was convicted. While his music was honest, gripping, convicting, and healing, his speaking was prophetic. His words gripped my heart and brought conviction to my spirit. I'm very thankful that I got to see him before he passed, to experience his talents, yes, but more to see his heart for God and the things of God and the conviction with which he shared those things.

Being a new Christian at 12, I had 2 dreams of Keith's death and didn't know anything about him. I told my sister after the 2nd dream and said to her I only have a picture of this guy's face and hair, ha ha. My sister pulled out of her desk drawer Songs of the Shepherd with Keith's face on it. I got excited and said that's him and she told me the news. I went out and bought all of the tapes and the book No Compromise. Keith's songs became my training and guidance through my teenage years. Many songs still touch my heart today, Dust to Dust and Only by following Jesus, to name a few. In the now, my wife and put out a newsletter for the encouragement of the body of Christ with a Conviction/Compromise article, remembering my training with Keith's no compromise stand! Thank you Jesus for Keith, Melody and family.

Whenever I listen to Keith's music I am challenged by his passion he had for the Lord. It inspires me to seek and strive to be more like Jesus, to be conformed to His likeness and to keep on going. Keith's witness of how he loved God is evident in all his music and his messages.

I was in junior high school when I heard Keith in concert. The lyrics spoke truth to me and taught me. It shaped my theology and worldview. Using the free cassettes and Last Days brochures, I began sharing the good news with my friends and saw God work in their lives. Saw two begin to follow Jesus. So glad the Holy Spirit used him to influence my spiritual development. Still can’t listen to a song of his without smiling and wishing he was still on earth. Going to enjoy worshiping with him again someday.

I came to Christ in 1982. I had grown up on rock and roll, and all the bad things that go along with it. When I accepted Christ as my savior I new that I had to change, I had to get rid of the old man and become a new. I loved my music, but then someone turned me on to one of Keith's Cassette's and I was hooked instantly! It was such a blessing to have music I loved, and from someone who so loved the Lord! I have often imagined Keith in Heaven talking with David, the psalmist...can you imagine the kind of worship songs that "going on in Heaven"? By the way, I still carry a couple of CD's with me to share, I love the Lord, and I love the Word of God...Thank you Keith and Melody for being such a big part in my walk with the Lord!
