Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.

I’ll start!

So very grateful for the strong, consistent message of the gospel sung by Keith. All the songs and spoken Word of God was delivered without compromise - in humble obedience to the Lord. It glorifies God, Melody, that the Lord has kept you lo these many years sharing the truth of salvation and what the Lord requires for Christian living through Keith's ministry. (There are few ministers who do not deviate from the truth nowadays which is very sad.) So keep on remaining faithful to Jesus, my Sister in Christ. And be encouraged still in the work of the Lord until the great and glorious appearing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus said to His disciples. "Promise that you will love one another as I have loved you." May the Lord add His blessing upon your life. Praying for you. Thank you for all you do as unto the Lord.

I read his biography at the age of 28 and it changed my life.....
I left church at 13, began drinking at 18, by the time I was 25 I was a chronic alcoholic, gambling addict and addicted to niteclubbing. I wasted so much of my life, when I started going back to church, I read his story...... I reached 28 and done nothing with my life. Keith Green rocked the planet by the age of 28. I read his book in 2002 and read it every year (at least). I went out and bought all his music, inspiring stuff. It took me deep into Jesus and made me want to impact the world..... Keith was an amazing talent and used it for God's glory. I don't have much talent, but I too want to give it all for Jesus...... I wanted to call my first born son Keith (but my wife wouldn't let me). I quit my well paying job in 2007 and enrolled at bible college fulltime, I now work as a School Chaplain, and serve full on in church..... I have been on 3 mission trips because "Jesus commands us to go!". His music taught me scripture verses that I still quote as a song :)

Wow, not sure how to begin...a friend gave me a Last Days Newsletter at church one day...I devoured it...starting buying his music after that and got every album (I still have all the vinyl ones with jackets)...donated all the newsletters I got over the years to a church library, figured some of the newer generation Christians would enjoy them...went to a concert in Tyler Texas at Caldwell Auditorium with a bunch of friends...overflow crowd...people were even allowed to sit on stage...remember one guy even crawled under his piano to lay there...vividly recall the day I got the tragic news...my pastor called, he knew I was a fan of Keith...another friend who worked with the Texas DPS was at the crash site, he even let me see the pictures he took of the crash site...afterwards, I served as a counselor at one of the memorial concerts in the same place in Tyler...it was a moving experience...even met you Melody in Tyler at the Long John Silvers restaurant sometime after that...been out to the grave site a couple of times over the years, need to go back...Keith's ministry was and still is one of the greatest ones of all times...

I was about 5 or 6 years old. My Dad had just become a Christian and had started taking me to church. I recall a Sunday just after I had become a Christian, coming out of the Sunday School room and looking up at the pin board. There was a poster of a man with a lamb across his shoulders. I was so drawn to the picture. I looked at it for a long time wondering who he was, why he had the lamb on his shoulders, admiring the warmth of his face and full head of hair. I decided that he looked like Jesus. The man in that poster left a lasting impression in me as a child about how a Christian should look. However, it wasn't till I was 18, that someone recommended I read 'No Compromise' as I was studying to be a pianist. I was so deeply moved by Keith Green's testimony that I went and bought all the CDs I could lay my hands on. It was only then that I realised that the man in the poster was Keith Green. What an impact he had on me as a young child, through a poster. Keith Green was influential in shaping the passion with which I live out my life for Christ. (Here is a link to an arrangement I did of 'The Lord is my Shepherd' in 2007: http://www.musicoz.org/songs/artist_profile.aspx?artistID=4116&page=1&artistcatID=0&catID=8&letter=&field=&keyword=&eventID=1&fromsearch=1)

Oh Keith, What a fire ball. Met you & him in Calif. I was so sad when you moved to TX. My most profound moment was when he told me that I was not saved. I argued with him, being raised in a Christian home. He was right. When I was 42 I gave up my life to Christ, I had just thought I was saved. He was one of the first people I thought of. No, it was not a rededication. I was a completely new Creation 2 Cor. 5:17! Glory, and my fruit showed it. All of that Evangelism has come out in me and I graduated from Bible School and am the head of Evangelism. Keiths music kept me from being real messed up. When I would party before, the music started to play in my head and I had to leave. God kept using his music to woo me. My kids were all raised with his music and know every song. God is so good. I hope to see you Mel, again some day. Glory to God for his life. Thank you for not letting his memory die. Great is your reward!

I was saved in 1976 and introduced to Keith and Melody's music. It was all I listened to. While driving to youth group or going anywhere, his music was constantly playing. It touched my spirit so deeply, and made me yearn for more and more of God. Everyone in youth group listened to him too, and we even did some songs as specials for the church. Some of the older saints thought it was too radical and "rocky", but everyone in youth group felt the same way that I did. His music made a difference in our lives, we wanted to be sold out to the Lord and wanted to be No compromise kids. I was very shocked and saddened by his death. My husband and I to this day still play Keith's music and we even named our daughter Rebecca Joy. God bless you Melody, you are an example to all women of a truly sold out servant for the Lord. I am blessed by your life and ministry.

When we first discovered Keith's music my husband Brent & I were n NYC with David Wilkerson. He was doing street ministry with 2nd Chapter of Acts. That was when Keith's plane went down & he & your babies went to Heaven. It touched our hearts and we just had to find out more about him.
After that our car became a sanctuary of worship, because every where we went it was Keith's music playing in our car.
Create In Me A Clean Heart & The Lord Is My Shepherd became the anthem of my heart. His music seemed so pure & so honest that it planted a burning desire to know God in a deeper and more honest way. To become clean before a Holy God.
Today my son in law & daughter are listening to Keith's music. It has so impacted their lives that I see a fear of the Lord growing in their lives. Keith's music plants a desire to not only worship God but to tell every one you know how great our God is.
My husband also went to be with Jesus, May 21, 2011. I have thought so many times that I'm certain Brent has looked for Keith to tell him how his ministry impacted his life.
God is good. His ways are perfect. Sometimes a seed falls to the ground to bring forth much fruit. Keith Green is still bearing much fruit! I see it in my own family.
God bless you Melody for keeping his ministry & music alive.
One day we will all worship before the throne together.
It's in Christ Alone!

I first heard Keith when he performed in St. Catharines, Ontario Canada, at a local high school way back in the late 70's!!! The venue was free. I fell in love with his message and music. The entire audience pulsated with the joy of the Lord eminating from Keith! I still get goosebumps when I think about it! Keith certainly was an inspiration to me. I bought his albums, played them on my "record player", yes back in those days!!! hahahaha ....and subscribed and followed his and Melody's journey through their monthly magazine, Last Days.
I was devastated hearing the news of his passing, along with his 2 babies! However, glorified that he was home with his Saviour and blessed that his children could accompany him. My prayers went to Melody and his other children on earth, and I see that through God's love and grace they have blossomed.
Through our Lord everything is possible,
In His love,
Doris
