Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.
I’ll start!

I never had the opportunity to meet Keith and I wish I had. I found out about Keith Green when a friend gave me the cassette So You Wanna Go Back to Egypt. At that time I had not yet been saved. I listened and liked the music. As I look back now I can see how YHWH was working in my life to get me to the point of accepting Yeshua as my Lord and Savior.
As I said I liked the music and had no idea that Keith's lyrics were breaking down the walls around my heart. I am a drummer and it was the music that was the hook and Keith's Ruach inspired lyrics the bait that caught me.On January 6, 1983 as I listened to The Grace by Which I Stand my heart broke. I was weeping so bitterly that I had to pull off the road because I could not see where I was going. It was in that moment in my car by myself that I met Yeshua on the side of the road in a small Missouri town. I cannot put into words what that experience was like but I knew that I had been forever changed. Today 30 years later I still have that cassette. The Lord has used me to bring many to Him, to perform miracles and even in one case raise the dead. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that The Grace by Which I Stand was written for me.
My collection of Keith's music is large and I still to this day use Keith's music to help bring other lost souls to Yeshua. I discovered I was Jewish many years after I met Yeshua.I am now a Messianic Jewish Roeh but was also an ordained Christian Pastor.I was even more grateful to find out that Keith was Jewish. My story could fill a book and now that I am approaching 60 I may well write one. Thank you Abba for Keith Green and Melody who has continued Keith's legacy. I look forward to meeting Keith after I fall at Yeshua's feet. Baruch HaShem Hamshiach Yeshua.

I still Love Keith and his music! Not very long ago I discovered a Christian radio station out of Sanitaria Springs, NY that plays Keith's songs. What a joy and remembrance of his music. I love so many of his songs, Back to Egypt, etc., but if I had to choose a favorite it would be, "Bananas for Jesus!" My brother-in-law and sister-in-law at that time were the first to "introduce me to Keith Green's music!" As a matter of fact, I was an 33 LP..don't make these any more, no one does! Now it is CD's or DVD's! Oh how far we have come!! Keith is one of my favorite artists still to this day! I remember, Melody, when I heard the news on the radio of your husband, back then, Keith's and I believe 2 of your children were killed in an airplane crash. I also remember that it was said that you never wanted your children to be in a plane, and most of your family was in that plane, and in that crash! It was a very horrible time, for you, and for all of us, that you lost your beloved husband, and a couple of your children. It was 2 of your children. I know that one of them were with you, or maybe It was 2? Anyway, it was a very horrible thing to happen to you, and for all of us!! I had heard that you remarried many years after, and was still keeping "Last Days Ministries" alive!!! Thank you for that! I would get the magazine. Do you still have that available? If so, I would like to subscribe to it. Thank you so very much! God Bless You, your children, and your family! Keith lives on in my heart, and I know in the hearts of countless other people!! Keith's music will NEVER die!! I know he is playing his songs and music in heaven! Even probably is doing more than we can ever think or imagine regarding his songs, and maybe, more!!! My love to you and your children and their families! You must be a Nana by now!! That is even better than being a Mom!! God Bless You! And you family and loved ones!! Marti Hendrickson

I saw Kieth perform in 1982 in California. I had just gotten saved from a very worldly life. His music ministered to my soul and helped give me great hope. Twenty years later I used Kieths music to minister to my young family of Gods great love and faithfulness. My daughter is now a musician and anointed song writer. She still loves Kieths songs and sings them on her piano. His music was anointed by God and I look forward to seeing him when we get to Heaven and thanking him for being sold out on Jesus. Praise the Lord for the Life of Kieth Green and his family. God Bless you Melody.

Started listening to Keith Green when I was a teenager, I am now 33 yrs old. His music has impacted me in so many ways. I would say the biggest impact of His music in my life is when I start feeling attacked by the enemy, I will listen to His music and feel the presence of the Lord come over me. My wife and I have four kids and we all sing along to Keith's songs. So greatful for for his devotion, love and absolute dedication to Jesus. Such an example.

Three Years ago, I was a Skateboarding Missionary who had moved to the small town of Joplin, Missouri to serve in the skateboard ministry full time. Coming from the City in Denver, this was quite a let down for me from the perspective of fun, activities, and size. I plugged in at a very passionate New Frontiers church plant, and met many people my age. At the time I had just been turned on to Keith's music, and was jamming it in the car everywhere i went, and showing people the documentary about his life. I was impacted by his zeal and no-compromise abandon for the Gospel... and as a skateboarder, i even liked his "i don't care what you think, cause i only care what Jesus thinks" spunky attitude. For years I intentionally avoided dating because i thought it was frivolous until marriage was truly an option. Once in Missouri, I met a gorgeous hippie looking Jesus Follower and we began to talk and get to know each other. It didn't take long to find common ground in Keith's music, and it just so happened that the 28/28/28 newsletter update was sent out, encouraging people impacted by God's work through Keith to invite friends over to share the story. I wanted to make friends and impact my community, so I asked this Lovely girl if she would be up for co-hosting the Keith 28years party with me. She was very excited about the idea, and we threw it together. About 12 people crammed into a little appartment, and I shared what was so special to me about the example Keith set. Then we watched the documentary, and some of the bonus features of live performances. What's funny is that Missy and I hardly spoke to each other during the entirety of the party, but today we sit here, married for 1 month, and it's been 3 years since the Lord used a common passion of ours to draw us together, and draw us to Him. We're so thankful and stoked that God does such unpredictable things and uses the most unlikely tools (Keith's pencil analogy) to work out His plans! Bless the Lord!

Keith's music is so timeless. I remember the day I heard he had passed away and the awful shock of it. His inspiration in my life was huge. I am now in Asia partly because of his influence. It was amazing a few years ago, I was in a church in Singapore and the young musicians were playing Keith's music during the worship service. It was so moving.

I was first introduced to Keith Green--by mention only--in a sermon years ago. Carman included short video piece in one of his songs that had Keith. As time went on, I eventually decided to learn about Keith. I read your book about him, watched a YouTube tribute video of Keith, and have purchased a number of his songs from Amazon. Keith has shot to be one of the top three people I wish to see in Heaven (Jesus is first, Jeremiah the prophet would be third). I am not a muciscian (and certainly not by any stretch of a calaber of Keith), but I would thoroughly enjoy singing songs with him in Heaven. I have already told my family of the number of songs by Keith I wished to have played at my funeral.

The book was absolutely annointed and at parts it literally brought me to my knees in prayer, repentance, and weeping before God.

God bless!

Waaaay back in the Woodland Hills days--around the time when FOR HIM WHO HAS EARS TO HEAR was released--I invited Keith to play at Agoura High School. I was president of the Maranatha! Club and all the different campus groups had an event day where the students could wander from club to club. We were able to obtain half the gym so after the piano was set up and Keith was okay with the arrangement, we opened the doors and maybe a dozen of us sat down in the front row.

And Keith began to play...

I turned around after a couple songs and THE GYM WAS PACKED! People were drawn by the music and Keith's warm personality and his talk about Jesus. It was wonderful to see God's love draw so many high school kids and some teachers too.

I lived in Westlake Village and my Mom would make casseroles for the Friday night Bible studies in Woodland Hills. Melody and Keith loved having some "home cooked" food for everyone to share.

One special night, Keith had the test pressing of NO COMPROMISE and we were all able to hear it! (I remember "YOU!" skipped!)

I think my favorite song/lyric is "Trials Turned To Gold" from his debut:

"Oh lord forgive the times
I tried to read Your mind
Cause You said if I'd be still
Then I would hear Your voice."

I live and work in NYC in advertising and marketing and have written a book about another Jesus Music band (All Saved Freak Band) but things turned out much differently for them. Visit for details.

Thank you, Melody for opening your home to me so many years ago--even though I had a home!

Peace in Him,
Jeff Stevenson
