Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.
I’ll start!

I received the LORD in May of 1977, and saw Keith frequently on the 700 Club TV show.It was easy to IMMEDIATELY APPRECIATE his musical talent and his transparency before his fellow man. Being newly born-again, I related to every one of the son lyrics, but especially, "When Your Love Broke Through". My husband and I have all of Keith's albums and they will always be among our favorite worship songs because they glorify GOD and each one tells such a personal story.
I will never forget how my heart broke when, one cay on 700 Club, Pat Robertson had the difficult duty of telling the television audience of Keith's passing, and of how Keith's plane had crashed and how Keith and two of your children had moved on to heaven. Heaven gained a great worshipper and musician that day. It will be such a joy-filled moment when we can all gather with Keith and your children and celebrate LIFE ETERNAL in GLORY. Blessings from Northeast Ohio. Thank you, Melody, for carrying on with such GRACE.

When I first became a Christian back in 1978 I was just 17 years old and a good friend introduced me to Keith Green's music and I loved it! He is so passionate about Jesus and loves Him so much and his message was radical and it influenced my walk with Jesus and when Keith passed away and you all did the Memorial Tour and came to Vancouver Canada I went and there was an altar call for those who felt called to the Mission field and my friend Bert and I were called and Bert is still a missionary in Africa and I went to the mission field in 1984 to 1985 in the States with Operation Mobilization. Keith was instrumental in helping me see that we can't stay silent about Jesus we must tell people about him. The Asleep in the Light talks about that and it made me realize I need to share my faith daily. Today I am an Elder in my church and I am part of the Worship Team and I love to sing and praise God! I do whatever I can to share the message of the Lord with people and to be a good example. Keith was an amazing person and I am so sad that we lost him and your two children at such a young age! Yet I love listening to Keith's music all the time and it just like he is still here! I have the Live Experience CD and it is awesome! Thank you for allowing us to share how Keith has impacted my life! God Bless you!

God has used Keith Green throughout my whole life to draw me closer to Him. I remember Keith's music being the first Christian music I ever heard as a youngster, from the very beginning of my life. It was Keith who led my parents to a Holy Spirit filled love and desire for Christ when they first accepted Jesus back in the 80s. They never stopped playing his music around my sisters and I and telling us about his life, transformation, and dedication to God and deep desire for others to know Him! I am eternally grateful and will continue his impact to even the next generation when I have children someday :) Thank you Green family for your devotion to your fellow believers but mostly for obeying the call Christ put on your lives. I can't wait to meet y'all in heaven soon! :)

I was only in Elementary School when my brother got free albums from LDM( this was in Nigeria, West Africa). Most of the songs were so touching but " Open Your Eyes" still rings clearly in my head from time to time. I really thank God for the gift of Keith to this generation.

I remember lying there nursing my baby girl when I heard the news! But the really important part of this is Josh's story. We were working up north on a First Nations Reserve where my husband was teaching. We had 3 little girls and had made close friends with a family from there. Their very young daughter became pregnant and they were panicking - at some point her mother asked us if we would adopt the baby if it was a boy as they knew we wanted more children but were not able to have them. We said we would love the baby no matter boy or girl. They also had an appt to see someone and I was pretty sure it was regarding an abortion. We prayed VERY hard and I went with them to their appt, praying all the way. We had received all the tracts from Last Days Ministry but moved so many times I was not sure I could find the one on abortion. I went to the storage room took down the first box and there right on top was the pamphlet. I took it right over to this young girl to read. I was pretty sure that she did not want to hurt her baby and didn't even know what would go on. To make a long story short - Josh is going to be 26 on August 1 and I was there when he was born and we have had him ever since. He had few rough years but at the moment he is studying to be a youth pastor and together with his lovely wife are expecting their first baby this fall! We are so thankful that we have had the privilege of raising this boy and thankful to Last Days Ministries for the part they played with their tract!

I was the Columbus, Ohio sponsor for 2nd Chapter of Acts during the 70's and 80's. One year during dinner I was talking with Steve and Nellie and they said
"You have got to bring in this new guy Keith Green, he's an awesome piano player and really anointed. Call us when we get back and I'll get you in touch with him." So I did and set up a date. I booked a small auditorium(1500 seats), not being sure how it would turn out. The night of the concert it was packed, Keith ministered and sang and at the end ask people to come forward for prayer. I had about 30 people prepared to pray with those that came up. The entire auditorium came up for prayer, most were crying, some were kneeling and praying, some were laying on the floor crying. I looked for the counselors and could not find them because they were kneeling and crying and praying!! I looked at Keith and said "What now?" He just shrugged his shoulders and said "let's wait". After about 15 minutes he said "Have them gather in groups to pray for one another." It was an awesome sight to see the entire auditorium of people in groups hugging and crying and praying for one another.

SOOOO many memories of becoming a Christian in 1979 and listening to Keith's music. I'd sit on my bed in my bedroom and listen to his albums (on cassette) over and over. The emotion in his voice, the meaning of his lyrics, the amazing worship songs he wrote will always be etched in my mind forevermore! God used his music to help build the foundation of my Christian walk back then and even today!

I remember the day my mom told me she heard he died in a plane crash three years after that. I was shocked, just like the rest of the world how loved Keith, his music, and his ministry. He and his children may have been gone, but his music, ministry, and legacy lives on forevermore!

Thirty one years ago (I was 25 y/o)I bought my first Keith Green CD, the lady told me this artist had been killed the day before. It didn't mean much to me at the time because I had never heard his music but was looking for something a little rocky to satisfy my music desires. Little did I know at that time that I would turn back to Keith time and again to be filled with the desire to serve Christ. Keith has been with me all these years and I still love his "no compromise" attitude when it comes to serving. He has been missed.

It was such a great event when Keith and Melody came to my Jr High school 1974 in Guymon, OK. I was a Christian. Keith's music and songs gave me inspiration to become a music minister, I followed the leading of the Holy Spirit and became a music minister playing and singing from the piano as did Keith, for over 24 years. I still follow that calling and ministry with the same passion as did Keith. Like many others Keith impacted my life. One day we will be with him and our wonderful Lord and Savior Jesus. Bless you for your following the call and keeping up the ministry of Last Days.

It was 1984...I had just come back to the Lord after many years of being away. I wasn't aware that there were "Christian" bookstores, but I saw this store one day called the Jesus Bookstore. Interested, I walked inside. There were all kinds of books and tapes and all kinds of Jesus stuff. After milling around for awhile, I walked to the counter and asked, "Do you have any.....I you have "new" music for today?" I didn't realize there was contemporary Christian music. The clerk smiled at me and showed me the way to a bunch of cassette tapes (yes tapes, NOT CDs)...I was confused at SO MANY to choose from. Up above the bunch of tapes, hanging from the ceiling, was a cardboard cutout of this "hippy" looking guy with a beard and the sign above it said, "Jesus Commands Us to Go" ... so, I found THAT tape, bought it, brought it home and wore it out listening to it hour after hour after hour and crying (sometimes violently) as I listened. I am a musician/singer/songwriter and some time after this I found a church with "contemporary" music, too. I told them I could sing and play piano and guitar and they asked me to do a special song one Sunday. After the service, a few people came up to me saying that I reminded me of a Christian artist who had "died" (their words) in a plane crash....his name was Keith Green. Still singing....still playing....but I'm much older now...that was 1984....dare I ask if after all I've been through....can God still use me NOW? At THIS advanced age? Surely all the good days are gone. Who knows?
