Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.
I’ll start!

I was baptized in the Holy Spirit at college and introduced to Keith's music--it so touched me. "Lord, You're Beautiful" and "The Lord is My Shepherd" still bring me to a new place today. Thank you for helping me go deeper in Him.

About 10 years ago even though being a saved christian my family was falling appart mainly to issues with my oldest son. I felt like dying at times, only to then repent and ask God to forgive me. A good christian friend of mines at work whom I had just known for about a year or so and is a huge fan of Keith Green gave me a collection of Keith Green music. It made an incredible impact in my life, Though the struggles continued lisening to those songs specially the song (When I hear The Praises Start) I felt as it was Jesus himself speaking to me. As a misician my self I felt Keith had incredible tallent as a song writer and pianist. I thank God for Keith Green's contribution. I and my friend Javier some times wondered If God called him to sing in Heaven. Me and Javier still love to lift our right hand up and point towords heaven like the pictures of Keith while praising God. Thanks for keeping his memory alive Melody. May God continue to bless and keep you

I was saved in March of 1981. A friend told me I needed to get a bible and also some christan music. I went to a store in Portage Wisconsin not knowing much about either. Being very broke...I consulted with the cashier. She told me Keith Green's music was her favorite and that it was free to any one who could not afford to purchase it! Wow!! I couldn't believe it! This was in the day of albums so I went home with my first! FREE! His music changed my life for sure and helped me transition from secular music. Since that time...I bought everything that was ever available and told my other financially strapped new christian friends of Keith's policy.

I was a fairly new Christian when I first heard Keith's music. His music and ministry changed my life. I was so strongly convicted and challenged by the words of his songs about what a relationship with Jesus should be and how I should respond to getting the message of love out to a lost and dying world. His lyrics are still the most Spirit-inspired I have ever heard.

I was 16 when a youth pastor suggested I read No Compromise in a cornfield of a town in Illinois. My father had left my mom, sister and me that year. As I read the stories of Keith and Melody's life and lyrics, vaguely I begin to recall the music in my memory of times my parents would play these records back in Germany. I found comfort in returning to Keith and Melody's music. A year later God arranged for my visit to a tiny church on Standing Rock Reservation in South Dakota. During this year I met God in a new way. My heart was led back to the reservation, not sure of what was ahead. I owned a guitar and knowledge of four chords, with courage to play only in my room. The Lord had a different design. Those solitary times of worship with songs like Your Love Broke Through prepared me for this atmosphere of leading worship at church and funerals, as well as reaching out to teens. The next chapter of my life was in Souhern California trying to escape the deep heartache I experienced on the reservation. But through it all, despite my anger, the Lord showed me His grace. I reread No Compromise with friends who knew little of Keith Green or God. We sought out the Little Brown Church and put our prayers in the tiny wooden prayer box by the altar, just like the book detailed. An antique dealer (wo knowledge of this or Keith Green)at the antique store where I worked, even felt to give me the unique gift of a coin bank of the Little Brown Church. These are glimpses of the grace of God I have found through this special ministry. Thank you so much.

Had my 5th child listening to Keith's music and it blessed the whole delivery room. (To this day the music calms him down!) Found out the doctor was a Christian and only had his music on record so I got her the CD for my 6 week follow up and now her family is being blessed in the car by his music and ministry! Thank you for keeping his legacy going! What a blessing he was and still is!!

Here in the Bahamas. I really enjoy reading this book. It really ministers to me. So amazed at how he turned his stories into songs. I never get tired of it and can't wait for the movie. Certainly a legend and what an inspiration. I have never seen anyone such a inspiration to God. Truly unbelievable. Loved it.

I heard Keith in a concert in Boston around 1977. I loved his music from the very start and introduced it to my husband whom I met soon after that. When were were at Elim Bible Institute we were involved in planning a concert he was to have in Buffalo but sadly the plane crashed just a few months before that was scheduled.

Our kids grew up listening to the music. During a time that my son wandered away from the Lord he emailed me on night asking, "Do you still have any Keith Green music?" I'm really wanting to listen to it. I happily bought him his own cds. He is now back walking with the Lord.

Keith's music still speaks, not only to his generation that I was blessed to be a part of, younger believers love his music too.

I heard Keith Green while attending a bible college in Florida. I was SO moved, as I was in a Christina music ministry and his songs and lyrics captured my heart in a way no other Christian artist ever has..or will. I don't understand why God took him and struggle to understand that. How could a loving God take him from you, Melody and take your beautiful children. I'm a drug addict now and can't break free, though I am a Christian. Why doesn't God take someone as bad as me, and leave someone as great as Keith? If you have any answers, please let me know. call me at 561-965-3520.
