Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.
I’ll start!

Clearly remember Keith ministering at the University of Oregon campus around 1974 or75 and standing up and boldly preaching to those observers at the back of the crowd calling them to give their lives to Christ. Since then I have dedicated my life to missions sharing the Good News with people around the world.

Back around '94, I was told of Keith Green from a friend. I got a hold of Melody's biography of Keith, No Compromise, and it chamged my life. I read the book over night. I couldn't put it down and I couldn't go to sleep. I then found out about LDM and started getting the newsletters which impacted me and I almost went to the school. THEN, in '98 I met the man that became my husband. Turns out, HE loved Keith Green's legacy. After we became married, we at different times housed different people because of Melody and Keith's example! THANK YOU FOR YOUR LEGACY!

Last Days is a wonderful Ministry and I followed it and learned so much.
My story is a funny one. I was in a Christian Bookstore in Mt. Vernon Ohio with my wife. On a shelf was Keith bio. When I pulled the book down the Holy Spirit send viberations all over me. I looked at my wife and said "touch this book", well she felt nothing. You both had and still have a wonderful Ministry.

It was 1979. I was doing a show called "The Gospel According to Music" in Tulsa. Keith came for a week to minister. We talked on the phone every night on the air and he shared what God was doing. As you all know, Keith could be a little intense. I felt maybe too intense. So I asked to meet and talk. I went to where he was staying and shared my heart. Keith shared his. He pointed out he was called to be a prophet and I was a mercy person. He was right, but lately the things Keith sang about and talked about are more needed today then ever. The Church has compromised and allowed political correctness and the American way of doing things, present "another Gospel" then the one Jesus preached. More then ever, the church is asleep in the Light and we better wake up before it is too late. I thank God for the music and ministry of Keith Green... but I am also thankful that Keith took the time to talk to me and share his heart. I was very blessed by that meeting.

I first heard of Keith Green while I was in The Salvation Army Seminary in 1984 and found Keith's singing, words and piano playing abilities to be truly God-given and prophetic. I was convicted, encouraged, strengthened and healed by listening over and over again while driving, studying, or meditating. It is 29 years later and I am still challenged, convicted, strengthened and encouraged by his ministry which is really HIS ministry. God is and has been using Keith for a long while.

I first heard Keith's music just after I was saved in Jan 1983. It played a big part in me getting on fire for God. I was sent by the Lord to Ireland 18 months after I was saved. I returned to Australia, and eventually went to Indonesia where I met my wife and still live.We have two children. God bless you guys...I love you all, Jim

I remember when I was in High School at about age 15. I had excepted Christ. A group of kids in my neighborhood became Christians about the same time. We listened to Keith all the time, knew the lyrics to every song. For me he showed me how important commitment to my savior was. When I got older and married with kids I would play Kieths songs and my kids would sing along with me as we were driving to different places. I am now 58 and they are 35 and 37. I remember when Keith and the children were taken and how sad I was. I can't believe it has been 31 years. I know how much he has impacted my life as well as generations. I now along with my brother have bible studies in our home. I am involved in an awesome church. I love to serve people, it is a great blessing. I also miss the Last Days newsletter.

I had not heard of Keith Green till my freshman year ('77/'78) at Oklahoma Baptist University. Keith came to campus on an extremely dead weekend. I don't think it was a fund raiser concert for any organization, because it was a free concert, so I went with my friend Cindy. Neither of us were in a festive mood. It was somewhere to go and it was free.

Keith came onto the stage where there was a single grand piano and nothing more. No other musicians and no other singers. What Keith did was present a concert of praise, worship, and proclamation that filled that huge Potter auditorium. It seats thousands but there may have been less than 100 people there. Keith seemed oblivious to the sparseness of the crowd and sang his heart out. He filled the room with the power of his message and his love for Jesus. That grand piano played the part of orchestra in an unbelievable way. First time to hear "The Easter Song". INCREDIBLE1

Determined Keith was 1 of my favorite Christian artist/preacher when he sang "He'll Take Care of the Rest". Again, we weren't in the best of moods and here is Keith singing, "Remember, He is divine, and you are de branch..." That phrase hit me right between my funny bones. If I wasn't the only person laughing at his wit, I was the one laughing the loudest. Changed my attitude and opened a door of ministry in my heart and mind.

In the pursuing years, as I learned of Last Days Ministries, I was given opportunities to support LDM and opportunities to enjoy many materials (even when I couldn't afford them). The music and pamphlets plus the newsletter. The impact of Charles Finney on my ministry, philosophy, and

Thank You, Lord for bringing Keith Green into the sphere of my life. Thank you Keith for your faithfulness and creativity!

I was in Tucson Arizona working with youth. We had a summer intern and he introduced our youth group to Keith Green. I would listen to his music over and over because the words were exactly what was in my heart. The music reached a lot of the youth that we were working with. A year later I found myself pregnant and so alone. I was so ashamed that I flew home so none of the youth would know. I listened to Keith Green EVERY DAY. I cried, rejoiced, renewed, forgave and seven months later had a beautiful baby girl. I remember driving home one day after one of her check ups and heard the news about Keith and the kids. I cried and prayed for Melody. I became a teacher at a private school and played Keith's music all the time in my class of 5th and 6th graders. We would go over the words and discuss what they would mean to the kids. Several of the kids turned their heart over to Jesus and were baptized. I still listen to Keith's music. I look forward to meeting him and the kids one day. Melody, thank you for keeping this ministry alive and may God Bless!

I grew up as a pastor's kid, but for a long time wanted nothing to do with ministry. Then a group of us went to the Keith Green memorial concert at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis (1983). God really spoke to my heart somewhere between "Jesus commands us to go" and Bob Ayala's "Joy by surprise. " Since then, I have had the privilege of serving God in pastoral ministry in Indiana, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Arizona, California, Rhode island, and Massachusetts.
