Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.

I’ll start!

I spent my teenage years listening to nothing else.
Keith's music is challenging, anointed and timeless.
It makes you want to live for God.
I now lead a church and believe Keith's challenging lyrics keep me focused
on the gospel without the fluffy bits the church has so often
got distracted with.
Your life, Melody is as much a testimony to God as Keith's music.
You inspire me.

My wife and I came to a house that you and Keith lived in California. I believe that it was close to Orange county. However, Keith was not home at the time and you still made her and I feel comfortable. It was as a result of Keith's first album that had me attracted to his music. I was a young Marine at the time stationed at El Toro MAW.

My younger brother, Richard, led me to the Lord on July 28, 1981. He introduced me to Keith's music and the Last Day's Ministry newsletter, which gave me a passion to worship God and study His word. Right from the beginning of my walk with Jesus, the Lord used both Keith and Melody Green to instruct me and direct me to Him. One issue in particular, "Do not be yoked with unbelievers", really spoke to me and taught me to stop looking in the world for a godly relationship. This article came at just the right time and saved me much heartache. Some time later, the Lord brought John into my life and we will celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary this year. He is God's gift to me.
I was one year old in the Lord on the day Keith and the children went to be with Jesus.
I lost a brother that day, but God continues to use Keith in my life through his legacy.

Keith's music is constantly such a big challenge in my Christian life. It keeps me focused on the eternal things rather than the superficial things in this life. Keith's music also is a great motivator for me to get out there and continue to try and reach lost souls for Christ and to spread the gospel as much as possible, before its too late.
Thank you Melody for everything you put into this ministry. May God bless you.

Keith was completely sold out to God. A man after God's heart. His music and books impacted me deeply. Especially "No Compromise and A Cry in the Wilderness" His lyrics cut to the soul and challenges me. God bless you Melody and your family.

I grew to love K G music in the mid 1980s well after his passing. I painstakingly pegged notes on the piano Lies song and my sister sang it at my piano recital at a senior home. I only have a couple songs by memory. O lord your beautiful and Lies. I still have a cover less heavily pencilled in memory years silver album at this computer as I type. Ialso loved listening to the cassete of For him who has ears to hear. All in All Keith I never met but one of my buddies saw him in alexandria when he went to local churches well before he did larger venues. I recently purchased the video of his live performances in brown cardboard cover. I Love Keith Green's music and books. I bought two books. No compromise and another one about the history of his life. Finally, I say Jesus Rest Keith's soul. That he might be able to praise God in the heavens Third heaven of eternal bliss. Thank you for your time. dan

It was after Keith had gone home to be with the Lord that I was first introduced to his music. It was in the fall of 1982. I was 22 years old and had been following Jesus for about 3 years. I was volunteering at a youth center in the town where i lived and Keith's music was being played over the sound system. The words of his songs would play over and over in my head and would challenge and motivate me to live all out for Jesus. The song, "Asleep in the Light" brought such conviction from the Holy Spirit that I knew God was calling me into the ministry. Now over 30 years later, that song still speaks to me as it did back then. I've been in pastoral ministry for 18 years now. I know that it was Keith's music that God used to speak to my heart.

On the day I heard about Keith, I went to school to meet a friend. This man was giving out bible tracks there. He came up to me, pointed his finger in my face and said Keith Green is playing at the Laurie Auditorium tonight and you need to be there. When I got home, my brother had a new cassette which was Keith's For Him Who Has Ears to Hear. My brother was super excited about it and we all listened to it. I told him that I had heard he was playing tonight and that we all needed to go. So I called my band mates and we went down to the auditorium to see him. When we got there, we wanted to check out the drum set and sound equipment but there was only a concert grand piano. To this day I still remember the first song he played, opening up with So You Wanna Go Back to Egypt. Keith gave a very powerful message that night and I think he meant to offend anybody who was out to cheapen the Gospel. He talked about how he did not like selling the gospel. I also remember he sang Make My Life a Prayer to You, the no compromise song. When he sang that song, there was a wave a peace that overwhelmed everyone, especially me. I did not know that much about the gospel and I know now that feeling was the Holy Spirit. Keith's music was so anointed that it brought about those feelings. I started to weep and cry uncontrollably and that just wasn't me. It was a real sense of peace and clarity. Keith asked everyone to put there hands in the air so he could pray for them. I remember he didn't pull any punches, he called out the folks in the front row because they couldn't see the people behind them raising their hands so they didn't raise their hands.
Not a day goes by that I'm not listening to his music in my car or my house. Please know that I share your story with everyone. As a barber, I share his legacy and his music with everyone. He's a true inspiration. God bless you all.

I was attending Northeastern Bible College, and was an usher for Keith's Live Concert at the Bible College. I met him in person with his son Josiah on the stage. I was blessed by his compassion and love for the Lord in his life and songs. Through out my high school days, before College, his music and fire for the Lord was very contagious and spread to me; I played my drums listening to every album I have of his, and to this day, still play the drums to his music and songs. Thank you, Lord for using my brother in Christ, Keith, to inspire me to follow you with all my heart.
