Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.
I’ll start!

I first talked to Melody Green when I worked for Rapha Christian Counseling. She was calling to get someone help. When I finished the call, one of the other counselors said: Do you know who that was? I said, Melody Green. They said: That was Keith Green's wife. Me: Who's Keith Green? I was new to Christianity. He gave me a tape (that's how long ago it was}. I was hooked.
I played for my wife and daughter. They were hooked. My daughter, Jennifer ended up at Last Days Ministry in Lindale and 2 mission trips for YWAM...Guatemala and LA. I love how the Lord weaves the stories of our life for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Love to Keith and Melody. Guy, Meli, and Jennifer Davis

When we were missionaries in Manila, my son had discovered the music of Keith Green. This would be in the early 1980's. one day he asked his Dad, who disapproved of rock music, and forbade our children from listening, to just listen to one of the songs on this CD. He asked his Dad to listen to "Make My Life A Prayer". Barry listened, and changed his mindset on Christian Rock music. In 2009 when Dad passed away, I searched through all his CD's to find this song so it could be played at his funeral. I know it was used by God, to reach the many hundreds of math and physics students he taught over his 34 years as a teacher. And I know Melody you and I long for a reunion day someday soon. I hope Keith and Barry have met each other and fellow shipped and dined with the Lamb together. I wonder what music they may have composed together........

The day of that terrible accident, I was on my office at Centrum of Hollywood when the call came in that Keith had gone home to Jesus. We sat there numbed by this call. His influence extended beyond just his music, but also him personal ministry to all of us in street ministry. God continues to use him today because of the prophetic messages in his ministry and music. He was a mighty man of God and his music is still relevant in todays culture.

I, too, was 28 when Keith entered Heaven. I was still a baby Christian at the time, just 2 years old. The input of LDM into my Christian life was formative, motivating and guiding, to a large degree, then and is still impacting me today. I visited LDM fairly often in the late 1980s, while I was on staff at a Teen Challenge Ranch not far from Lindale. Those visits were like going home or visiting my grandparents. Ha! Keith and LDM were my teachers in The Lord; my elders. The timelessness of Keith's music and song lyrics is indicative of the supernatural quality of them; songs from God, delivered by His servant-minister. And 31 years after the founder's death, the LDM ministry is still vibrant and changing lives; this, too, is God's work. I have a couple of KG videos on YouTube and one of them has a view count of over 45,000. Keith is one person I am very eager to meet when I get to Heaven.

I had only been saved a short time when I went to my one and only Keith Green concert. He was singing in a small auditorium in Iowa. I will never forget his passion and love for the Lord Jesus. I know that he inspired me both with his life and music to follow my Lord. I will never forget him and look forward to seeing him again - Even so Come Quickly Lord Jesus!

I first heard of Keith when Rebecca St. James recorded "O'Lord Your Beautiful" on one of her albums. I later heard Keith sing that song cause it was featured on an Acquire the Fire album. I loved that song. Later in college I did more research on Keith and used him as a model for a small sculpture that we had to make of someone who had been impactful and not alive for about 10 years. I thought Keith fit the bill and used it as a time to share about Keith and Jesus in class. Years later I ended up on the very campus in Texas that he and melody had bought for Last Days Ministries. It was now Teen Mania. I was honored to be there because of the rich legacy of he and others that was there. I was able to hear Melody speak and thats where I bought "No Compromise". I wept and was marked by that testimony. I visited Keiths grave that year as well. I was able to meet some friends of his from Mercy Ships and they told me how much I looked and reminded them of Keith which I thought was an honor of course. His message and mandate that he targeted to bring glory and honor to Jesus made him a huge role model in my life and he still is. "Asleep in the Light" is also one of my favorite songs. I now live in kansas City and work at the International House of Prayer as a prophetic singer. I wonder where Keith would be if he were alive today, he would be doing great things no doubt.

I've been listening to Keith's music since I was a kid, and the urgency of his message and the authenticity of his faith has strengthened my own faith many, many times. God has used Keith's music and his heart for the Gospel to move me out of complacency, grow my faith and reveal His heart to me. Make My Life A Prayer, Asleep In The Light, Lord You're Beautiful, There Is A Redeemer, No Compromise and many more of his songs are long-time favorites. Many, many blessings on you for continuing in his (and your!) ministry!!! Happy heavenly birthday, Keith...can't wait to worship with you one day!

I read the Book before I had heard the music in about 2001. And yesterday I taught my Youthgroup on the importance of being authentic Christians. Keith had something to do with that!

Enough said.

saved in 1975 and have all of keith's albums and our daughter/son grew up listening along so it has crossed the generations. now, of course, have some cd's but those albums will always be a treasure! the lyrics still speak! not possible to have one favorite but lately "there is a redeemer" has been playing over in my mind.

I had just graduated high school and gone on my first mission trip when this happened. I was shocked and saddened for Keith's family, but knew that this man left a legacy. I simply loved and identified with Keith's worship and much appreciated. It always helped me bring some reality to who and how Jesus was. Thank you Keith and Melody Green for enriching SO many lives! God bless.
