Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.
I’ll start!

I'm Chilean,I'm now 21. I was impacted with Keith's words when I was 15.
At that time I had many friends who had a strong call to werve the Lord overseas, and I was feeling like I had no special task to accomplish. However, a friend of mine, who is a missionary from the USA gave me this blue flyer with Keith Green testimony and sermon.
It sounds silly know, but when I read his words telling that we were ALL called to preach the gospel, I was amazed. That was a great discovery to me. I praise the lord fot Keith and Melody's life. You have impacted my heart deeply.
Now I'm in college getting ready to travel overseas to preach the gospel in Africa.
Thank you, and praise the Lord!!! :)

Keith's music and life is still an inspiration to me today. I came to know the Lord when I was a about 15. I heard Keith's music and I listened to it constantly, on a Sony walk-man.I still have all of his music on CD's and listen to them when I experience lack of hope and discouragement. I recently lost my son, if I need to feel uplifted or the presence of the Holy Spirit, I listen to one of Keith's CD's and the oppression and depression lift. Keith has carried me through many burdens. I bought his music and learned to play it on the piano. He was the best pianist I have ever heard. I love "The Lord is My Shepherd" and I play it and think of Keith. I still do not understand why the Lord took him home during the prime of his life, as I do not understand why God took my son at age 33, but my son knew Keith's music because I introduced him to it as a young child and they are now are rejoicing together in heaven. Grace by Which I Stand and I Make My Life a Prayer to You, cause me to weep and raise my hands to glorify the Lord in worship. Those are just two of the many powerful songs that I have sown in to my heart and my soul sings them over and over again. I introduced my husband and many others to Keith. The thing I loved the most about Keith was that he never compromised with the world. He had values and morals and although he could have done well in the realm of secular music, sought after eternal rewards instead. I cannot wait to meet with him one day. I am looking forward to meeting you both in heaven, God bless you Melody for staying strong, I know what it is like to lose your children, and I am sure the Lord has carried you through many days.

My mother used to play Keith's records when I was about 6/7 and my "aunt" actually performed Asleep in the Light at the church we went to and ever since I've always loved Keith, through every phase I went through, he was always my one constant.

I've long since left the church and I listen to a lot of black metal, and embrace the lyrics. I'm near 40 and have been apart from god for 15 years now. But even now, The Sheep and the Goats/Asleep in the light still give me chills. Despite my absence of faith, and complete disbelief in the bible itself, I will always have a great respect for Keith because he was never one for personal glory. He was purely and solely dedicated to what he was doing purely for his love of his savior and the need to let everyone know in the least preachy way possible. Heck...if there's one person who could have gotten me to turn back, it would have been Keith Green.

In 1985 I gave my life to Christ as a college student. I was greatly encouraged by Keith Green's music & would listen to his cassette album & sing along. The music & lyrics spoke to my heart & helped me grow stronger in my young faith. Today, I am still discovering more of Keith Green's anointed songs & preaching. Both Keith & Melody Green have really inspired me in my walk with Jesus.

Keith Green was & is, a huge inspiration to me. Listening to his music motivates you to get out there more & reach the lost souls of this world with the Gospel. I don't know of any other Christian music that stirs the soul as much as his. Sadly today, we have nothing like it. Much of the Christian work my wife & team have accomplished & been involved in, has also involved the music of Keith Green. We often refer to him in our ministry & newsletters ( Very soon we shall all be joining Keith in Heaven, & Melody & her daughters will finally be reunited together. Until then Christians, try harder than ever to reach as many souls as you can with the Gospel & stick to that Authorized Version Bible which IS God's PERFECTLY PRESERVED word, all others have errors in them! (Ps 12v6+7) Keith Green really had two main messages in his ministry, 'If you're NOT saved, GET saved!' 'If you ARE saved, make sure you are living RIGHT with God & reach the lost!' Amen & AMEN!

At the age of 29 after being raised a cultural Jew and experimenting with Eastern Religion a friend gave me Keith's Biography. I liked his story(not so much the "Christian" parts). Shortly after I read it, I started reading the New Testament.................and God saved me. Usually when I share my testimony I say that God used Keith's story to draw me to Himself.

Read the life story of Keith Green in 1991. That started me searching passionately for God, meaning and reality. 2 1/2 years later - as I listen to Keith Green music as I read a book about a near death experience. As the book and his songs tell the same message I finally understand that Jesus died for me and that that means, that I am forgiven - 100% - and that all I am searching for is found in Jesus alone. Forever grateful to Keith Green for his no compromise lifestyle. I look forwards to meeting him in heaven.

The first time I saw Keith in concert was as a student at Oral Roberts University. His words and music reached me deep inside and had an impact on the priorities I was choosing for my life. I was impressed how in one of his first concerts at ORU (*the* first?) he was in a smaller auditorium which had filled to beyond capacity. To keep students from being turned away, he invited them to come sit with him on the stage! I was also at the larger concert at ORU where LDM staff gave away free "No Compromise" records. Melody, some years ago I read (and hopefully my memory serves me correctly) in your biography of Keith's life that you all were not treated the best by some of the students (pressing into the tables to get the free albums) and even the administration. I'm sorry about that. But many of us on that campus were profoundly affected by the ministry of Keith, you, and LDM. Later, in 1982, as an employee at ORU, I was shocked in an employee meeting to hear of the death of Keith and your two children. Just two years ago, I stopped by Lindale for the first time ever -- I was taking my son to visit LeTourneau University. He and I found the grave of Keith and your children. Such a bittersweet visit. But one day we will meet in glory!

Dear Melody , family & friends...I was introduced to Keith's music and then the story of his life-right around the same time by a dear sister in the Lord, in a bleak place and time in our lives (we were both in prison) I was a new believer and listened voraciously to his spirit filled songs.. constantly. The prison chaplain brought me in a 3 cd album on cassette. It was such a blessing to me, and I played in always... (on my Walkman --this was over 25 yrs ago... Keith and the children had been with the Lord for a few years by then. I read this book and it set me on fire! (i related to him so much throughout the story. When I got out a few yrs later, I married and my husband and I listened to him all through our marriage.. (still do!) I post his concerts where he speaks annointedly (via YouTube) every Easter season and 'oft times throughout the year ... just to inspire ppl for the Lord.. His voice will always stir ppl to action as It as the voice of Truth and NO Compromise--the only stance that pleases out Lord and King... Thank you for the opportunity to share!

I remember seeing Keith at christian night at Disneyland around 1978. I had been a christian for about 6 or 7 years at this time and I remember just feeling the love that surrounded Keith as he sang. He was not just singing the words he was worshiping God as he sang and encouraged the listeners to do the same. I think of Keith often, and still sing along to his songs on Pandora, on the Keith Green station.
