Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.
I’ll start!

My brother went off to YWAM Tyler in 1983 and I remember him coming home and telling me about Keith Green and Last days ministries. I love Keith's music because it touched your soul in a deep way. In the next couple years God used Keith's music and a Keith Green memorial concert to get me to YWAM. I even applied to LDM and was turned down but recommended to do a DTS at Tyler Texas. I finally headed off on a YWAM bus to Tyler, TX from Ontario, Canada in 1985 to do my DTS. I have never turned back. My Mom joined us the next year and the three of us were involved in pioneering bases in the Caribbean and then we went on to Brazil to pioneer a work with street children. After 28 years my husband and I lead the YWAM campus in Recife, Brazil and train and send young people all over the world. Keith's passion and love for the Lord and missions influence thousands in the 80's and 90's in a very powerful way. Even in Brazil I still hear Keith's music played.

I was 1 month old in Jesus, but I loved his music. I fasted all music but his. God really dealt with me and through Keith's music I grew in faith by leaps and bounds. He had a profound impact on me and God used him for about twenty years to guide my decisions. I am a pastor and teacher of the Word at Heritage of Faith Int'l Min.

When I first became to know the LORD years ago, I only new him as Saviour, not Lord, my life has been up and down, I heard the words somewhere that some will make it by the skin of thier teeth, I believe at this moment this could be me, as the years have progressd I have had a Heart condition prognosed to me and I have lost my job I have had for 20years and I am having to find work because my Heart condition is only 75-80% bad, and I am fighting Depression a lot, but yet I don't blame the LORD or anyone else exept myself, I still say the LORD is LORD and my life is nothing with out Him in it but I do remember singing Kieths songs in the car a lot of times and once when my friend and I were sitting at a set of lights and the people were in a car beside us listening to me sing one of Keiths songs on the Shepard Albem and even though the lights turned green they waited to the end to applard so I do remember the songs up lifting strangers but not so much now so I have put some of the songs he has written on my computer and I still sing with them as they play and remember how the LORD has changed people over and over again, thanks melidy for your encouragement to me from the LORD.

Just want to add this: Even yesterday when I put a link to a version of "Oh Lord your'e beautiful", that I haven't heard before, I got many likes right away. Keith and his great impact is not forgotten. God still use his music to draw people near to Him. Praise God for His servant Keith Green.

Our music teacher in school (I went to a christian school) recommended the book "Keith Green" to us for at least 8 years ago. Last year I read it. I became very soft by reading it (tissues too). Had God Himself not promised to us that he will replace our heart of stone? (Ezekiel 36,26)

I love all Keiths music I memorized every word and would hope to see him in concert one day. When I heard what had happened I cried like I had lost a good friend. As I got older I strayed from my faith and when ever I wanted to remember my time with God I would sing the words of Keith's songs. They were Always calling me back to being the Women God wanted to be. Like the Prodigal son song he sang I wept and wept til I returned. I still weep but it's with thanks giving and joy that God never forgot me and never gave up on me. I am thankful for every word song for they are all apart of my walk and who I am today. I'm a SHEEP. God Bless You

We met Keith and Melody at a concert in Gulfport, MS.about 35 years ago. After the concert we had dinner and went to their hotel for a couple of hours. I learned that God uses REGULAR people to minister to others. You did not have to be someone special. I was privileged to see Keith off the stage, and realize he was just as normal as me, but willing to be used by God, and anyone could do the same. I never made the spotlight as others have, but have been willing to be used and have been often.

My older brother went away to college in Bellevue, WA in 1977 and while there he went to a lot of concerts including Keith Green. He sent eight track tapes of Keith Green (and others) to my brother, Mom and I back in Idaho. I listened to those tapes over and over (I was in 7th grade in'77) all thru Jr and Sr High School. I loved the way Keith's songs called me "up" to a higher expectation from God and my relationship with Him! He made it so personal and it challenged me to move beyond myself and serve and minister like Jesus did.

I gave Keith's book "No Compromise" to my friend and I pray that its having an effect on her. The story of Keith' and Melody's life was inspiring To see how serious they took The Word and influenced other people to follow Jesus andbe disciples.

I was raised in a Christian home filled with music and worship. I heard Keith's music and that of The Second Chapter of Acts and Annie Herring frequently as in our home we either listened to worship or played it. His songs as well as those of Second Chapter of Acts in particular informed my love of worship and still do to this day. In recent years I have gone on Youtube to hear some of Keith's classic songs, which always lead me into worship. His music was also written, not only with a tremendous sensitivity to the Holy Spirit, but also with a humor which invites others who may not otherwise be inclined toward the Lord, to ponder. I have shared the Lyrics of "So You Want to Go Back to Egypt' with friends as it is humorous and yet right to the point. I would like to do more of that, Keith didn't just sing or perform, or even "just" worship the Lord. He invited others to join him, in a humble, no-nonsense, often humorous way, I have never quite seen since.
