Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.

I’ll start!

I became a Christian on March 13, 1981 and Keith Green was the first Christian artist I was exposed to. And I fell in love with his love for Jesus. And the words ran so deep. And 31 years later I can still say that he has been the greatest blessing as a Christian song writer. And when I found out about the airplane crash I was sad in one way because of how traumatic it must have been. But on the other hand it was like he was so in tune with God he was ready to go home to Jesus. I'm in this ministry now to help the needy and I mentioned Keith Green and she didn't know who he was and I thought to myself, you have missed one of the major Christian song writers of this generation. And I believe that to this day!

You learned the word of God while listening to his music. All my children grew up listening and learning, while hiding Gods word in there heart. My son said he was the best Christian songwriter there ever was,

I first discovered Keith Green's message through his songs & lyrics I read then chose to play the special ones I was moved by on my Radio segment. Then, I discovered the book, No Compromise, I read with enthusiasum! He lived his convictions he felt by the Holy Sprit & he rad God'ord faithfully & tried in every way putting it into practice in his life. That was what I was trying to do, being a young Christian &Keith greatly inspired me to spur on, to, not worry about standing up for Jesus' word when other Christians are sloppy in their obedience, but not to compromise but instead being a light & a beakon, allowing God to takeall glory was & still is the right path I'm on. I thank God for Keith's naturalness, in being himself God was able to best shine & we need to do the same. Thank you Melody for your gift in Writing his Memoir, I still recommend that book to otfhers for alife-changing read, of course Keith's lyrics & melodious songs speak to me still, so truthfull ak of scripto!

I first heard Keith Greens song "Create In Me A Clean Heart" in 1992 on an old Christian radio station after I was released from 10 months in prison for a DUI in L.A. I had just been baptized into the Holy Spirit in Wayside County Jail a few months prior and was loving the joy, peace and love of the Presence of God.
The song made me cry and my sister too and she wasn't even saved. I called the station to get the name of the artist and since then I have ordered all his songs. they are the most anointed songs today in contemporary Christian music, I think. God took me to his anointed music after I was released as I am a drummer and was familiar with the L.A. rock scene with Slayer and the Crue. Thanks Jesus for those songs!
Everyone who hears Keith's music cries in God's Presence! Songs like "Create In Me A Clean Heart", "The Lord is My Shepherd", "My Eyes Are Dry", "Make My Life A Prayer", and so many others!
Once again in prison for a DUI in 2002, I sat in a jail cell in Administrative Segregation and repented and began to manifest the anointing by praise and guess whose songs I sang? Keith Green's, as well as others. One of those nights I had a dream of Keith in heaven singing the most beautiful song I've ever heard at a white piano before Jesus throne...he had on a white wool hood less cloak...it was open around the neck and was a one piece garment...he was playing his piano and singing with fervor...I woke up in the anointing and was weeping in God's Presence...I wrote to Melody about this in 2002 after I was released and the song that comes as close to what I heard in heaven is "The Prodigal Son Suite". Thanks Melody for letting us share.
My prophetic powers have increased and can now commune with angels called the gifts of "Tongues, interpretation of tongues and the tongues of angels."

As a singer/songwriter myself I would have to say that Keith set the bar real high as far as ministry in concerned. I always think of him as the "real deal" as a Christian artist and I often wonder where he would be today had God allowed him to continue in ministry. My favorite song: "I Pledge My Head To Heaven For The Gospel". How can you get any more raw than that?.... Looking forward to that great concert in heaven...

I grew up in a Pastor's home. Wandered away from God after High School in the 70's. In the early 80's I came back through much life pain. Jesus restored my life. Keith's music was a part of it all...along with Randy Stonehill & Larry Norman. All a part of the Jesus Movement I suppose, but even greater..God's hand moving the Church to Love Jesus with a purer and more powerful Love and dedication. I will always be closer to Jesus, partly due to Keith's writing, singing and words. What an amazing guy he was/is :) Melody, we all know, it takes a strong woman to stand by a musician...thank you for being "that" woman! Keith was blessed. And, he was able to bless many. In fact, he still does.

In 1991 I started dating Ken (a Christian) During our realtionship he started witnessing to me and the best "tool" was these cassette tapes of Keith's music. His songs and his voice were truly helping me to open my eyes to a personal relationship with Jesus. Ken and I have now been married for over 20 years and we still enjoy listening to Keith Green. Our 12 yo son is named Josiah after one of my favorite songs "A Song for Josiah)

After meeting Jesus in '83 I left the hippie, addictive lifestyle and learned to be my children's mom finally. Since my husband was still an addict I found peace in Christian music and learned lots of scriptural truths listening to Keith. The anthems gave me strength to stand and believe through some rough years until my husband was saved and discipled thru the ministry of YWAM friends Steve and Bronwen Niles. They introduced me to Melody and I had the privilege of serving her in creating a home for her, Rachel & Rebecca. Keith, Josiah and Bethany had gone to heaven but just reading his diary while staying with Melody was very inspiring...and convicting. Melody sponsored Mark & I in attending one of Scott Hinkle's Street Ministries Conferences and that launched us into Straight Street Ministries. Celebrating 20 years this fall we have now seen hundreds of men (and a few women) set free from drugs, alcohol & prison by the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We trace that Christian family tree right back to Last Days Ministries. Thank you, we love you!

I absolutely loved Keith Green's music. I was in my teens and felt so convicted to be completely soldout for Jesus. When I met my husband to be and he sang Keith Green songs with conviction I knew he was someone I could marry because he also wanted to be completely sold out for Jesus.
