Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.

I’ll start!

I remember hearing Keith's name when I was in high school but didn't listen to him until college. I find that his music moves me as much as the very first time I did hear it. He's relevant today just like then. His heart for Christ and for the unsaved was and is a call to us that we should have that same relentless passion about. It hurts my heart he is gone, but that is but a temporary state. I still to this day talk about him and invite people to listen for themselves. Bottom line? I thank God for him and you Melody!

As a 20 year old brand new Christian in college back in 1981, I had no money and little direction for spiritual growth -- thank you Keith and Melody for the Last Days Newsletter and the "Pay what you can" for, to this day, the most meaningful and timeless music to which I've ever listened.

I remember when I was just out of high school and trying to find my way! Keith was singing in Ashland Oregon, witch was an hour away! Our youth group went to see him! It was great! I remember his butt never touched the piano bench, he was on fire for the Lord! I was so up lifted by him that Christain music has alway been a passion for me since. Your news letters where a blessing too! I still feel very, warm and fuzzy thinking about it now! Keith makes me smile, he was so real! And one wants what he has! I sure miss him! I still listen to his music in my car today!

I met Jesus before I went to church and when I did go to church I was given a loan of a Keith Green record. It was the first Christian music I ever heard. I related to what I heard in Keith's music more then to what I saw in church. I heard the words " you said if I be still then I will hear your voice " these words discipled me. I was still, I listened and I heard. 20 years later Keith's music is still what points me directly to Jesus. God is still using Keith Green.

Melody & Daughters:I was just about to retire for the day when it occurred to me to pause and pray for you. I can only say; what a grace on his life! I was so impacted by Keith 's music, teachings, and his obvious & complete love for the Lord & His people. Keith taught his audiences to give the Lord the total heart (I'm still learning) and was an example of how it's done. Thankfully, his powerful voice continues to speak out. No one has impacted me more than Keith Green. Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to attend one of his live concerts, but I have quite a collection of his ministry projects & tools. Thank You, Melody, for your gifts to us side by side with Keith & ongoing. You are loved and
appreciated and you're a tremendous blessing to the body of Christ & the world.

I loved Keith's music and waited for the Last Day's Newsletter with anticipation, reading every article. But it was the Pro-life messages that really reached me. I had copies of all of the brochures and flyers that your ministry produced and "Children, things we throw away" really changed my life. After Keith's death, Melody wrote that we should not let Keith's death be in vain. I called my local Crisis Pregnancy Center and became a volunteer. This began a 10 plus year journey that included opening 3 CPC's, housing pregnant women, leading them to Jesus and adopting my precious daughter, now 28 with 4 beautiful children of her own. Thank you to Keith and Melody for such a powerful ministry. God bless you, Melody, as you carry on.

I don't remember how we first heard about Keith, his ministry and his music, but we loved him and his music all the same. He performed at a venue in Anaheim(?) where we listened and worshiped. Then we saw him 'live' at Knott's Berry Farm. At the time we passed the stage he was singing 'He is divine, and you are de'branch..." Have since found many others who love his music and know that Keith's love for the Lord has impacted many people. My daughter is finishing us her year at the Honor Academy/School of Worship (Teen Mania Campus) in Texas where Keith used to be. All our daughters enjoy his music too. Praise God for his ministry which still lives on.

Whenever I hear Keith Green's name or music I am immediately drawn to a place in mind where I sense the closeness and conviction of the Holy Spirit. Keith spirit was (and I'm sure still is) on fire with the Holy Spirit for the love and glory of God! When I listen to his songs they preach Christ alone to my soul. The issues in life that I may be struggling with seem to grow dim as they fade away in the light of the truth and passionate love for God in the songs flowing from Keith's heart, voice, and piano. Many times as a young person, I felt very alone inside. I hungered to know this Jesus that I had heard about most of my life. When I would play Keith's music, and I listened/sang the words over and over again, a clearer and free-er understanding of who Christ was/is to me and who I was/am in Him began to take shape. Keith's music ministry was/and still is anointed! I love every one of his songs, but one that comes resounding through my spirit whenever I find myself broken is "Rushing Wind blow through this temple, blowing out the dust within, daily change me by your spirit, I've been born again...." It is such a celebratory and declarative song of praise and victory and liberation! There is nothing or no one who can separate me from the love of God and I owe my everything, my life, to my beloved Saviour and Lord.... this is what Keith Green has helped me to understand and I am eternally grateful for his life, obedience, love, sacrifice, and witness. Thank you for your love and faithfulness, too, Melody. You keep his memory alive while others may have forgotten. It is a powerful and beautiful memory and you must be an amazing woman of strength and beauty to have carried on for so long unchanged in your vision and commitment. What love you must have shared with each other because of Christ our surest and strongest bond. Many thanks and blessings to you and your family. God is love. God is holy. God makes a way where there seems to be no way. Praise be to God alone for He is worthy beyond measure. Looking forward to that great and glorious day when we shall see all things as they really are...

I was "19" when I first heard Keith's music, back in 1982. "No Compromise" had a huge impact on my life. Every song carried such power and conviction! After hearing "Jesus Commands Us To Go" the Lord led me to Y.W.A.M. Our missions trip took us to Guatemala for a month, followed by a month in New Orleans LA (during Mardi Gras)...We read a book called "Is That Really You God? by Loren Cunningham. Where I learned how to HEAR the still small (but very clear) voice of God. I'd like to say that I followed Him ever since then, but I gradually fell away, allowing other things to creep in, and take my mind off of Jesus. It was songs like: "Create In Me A Clean Heart" and "Rushing Wind" that drew me back to the Lord. I still listen to Keith's music today..."If you've done it to the least of these my Brethren, you've done it unto me." (Matt 25)
