Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.

I’ll start!

As a newly married brand new believer in 1982, I was hungry for bible teaching. One day in a Christian bookstore I asked the Lord to point out a suitable cassette tape to inspire me (didn't know any artists back then). Well I've always loved all things green - so Keith Green looked irresistable to me. And when I got it home to listen to - it WAS irresistable! I learned all the songs by heart while painting my bathroom. I loved that man - he brought God's pure word and love to me in truly inspired heart-felt song that I could sing with - and teach to others. Our children grew up on Keith Green and not a lot else - frankly I didn't think they needed much more than Keith's music and the Bible and church attendance. When I read about Keith and 2 children being taken home to Jesus, I wept and grieved for Melody and children for a long time - yet I rejoiced for Keith too. Melody, we still sing There Is A Redeemer at our church, I pray for you and girls, and like others, salute you for you awesome contribution to Keith in his time, and to our world in your own time. Thank you. Looking fwd to meeting you in the best place and in the Lord's timing.

Having heard Keith music for the first time broke me down of all that was not right in my heart with God and showing me how to become better in my commitment with the LORD. Keith Music was so inspiring that to this day I break down with a humbling feeling of knowing God at that very moment and knowing more of HIS presence. Keith Music hits the heart and changes my life and gives me a better outlook on what God wants to do in these days.. Im so thankful that God used Keith in a such a powerful way the words and music have to come from heaven. I dont get that from most songs the way that Keith music hits me. PRAISE GOD !!!! thanks so much for all that keith music has done in my heart..

In the 70's I was very much in to the Christian Music, and one of my favorites was Keith. When Keith died I was in a limbo time of life. I had left college because I had no vision. I wanted to go into the mission field but had no encouragement to do so. His death and final messages were the encouragement I needed to join a mission organization! I was happily with that organization for four years. During my mission years the LDM magazines were always with me. I'm so grateful for those years and where they lead me.

In 1993, I gave my life to Jesus after being glued to Keith's music in the nearby flats. The rythme and the message just sunk into my soul to the irresistable levels. What followed was to find out who the singer was and where he could be found- only to learn he had gone to be with the LORD.
The positive heat of Keith Green did not just end in my inside but radiated into my close associates namely Moses Mulenga and Peter Nyirenda
Today, Keith remains my most fancied Gospel artist.

To this day I am inspired by him and the work he did here. During the time 4 years ago when I lost my Mom to breast cancer I am in awe, Melody how you dealt with all that. I have been looking at your grace and just the Lord truly working in all that and it is amazing. How did you do that? Thanks for having this available to us and putting yourself out there to all of us. If there is anyway I can hear from you on this issue and how you allowed the Lord to use it, would be amazing. Maybe you have shared some other things about dealing with this and losing him as well as your kids.

I started to listen to Keith Green's music when I was a teenager in high school (since 1984). A friend had offered me some cassettes. To this date, I still have the very same cassettes that were given to me back then and still listen to his music. His music and lyrics have always been so inspiring to me, as they spoke of Truth, Faithfulness, GOD's steadfast Love and Mercy, and more!! His message to all was GOD's message, so inviting to coninue our Journey to embrace GOD's Love all the days of our lives. Blessings in Christ, Carole Thomas

It was the late 70's I was a new believer.Several of the people at the Church I got saved at were listening and sharing this Last days Ministries tracts and songs from Keith Green, His music shared my Emotions of what God was meaning to me. I felt so close to God and to Keith because of his music. When he was killed , I felt like a part of me died in that aircraft too, I cried and wondered how God could take him when that Ministry was really just starting to florish. I see now why God lets things happen. It's to bring glory to him and to reveal himself in that situation. We have to rely on him and not our understanding. Keith was just a willing vessel as am I. Were all here as followers of Christ to spread the goodnews of his love and Salvation. His gift was of music and mine gift is of sharing his forgiveness for me through Jail ministries.

A christian friend of mine lend me one of Keith's album Songs for the Shepherd. I am just a new convert at that time but his songs really touched me. Not long after that Praise Incorporated released 4 albums of Keith Green entitled The Ministry Years and I really got hold of that 4 casette albums (the gold and silver one Volumes 1-4) From then on I always listen to his songs. And some of the songs that really spoke to me were: To Obey is Better than Sacrifice, Your Love Broke Through, Make My Life a Prayer to You, Pledge My Head to Heaven, I don't Wanna Fall Away from You, Don't You Wish You had the Answers and Here Am I Send Me. These songs had a big influence in my life that I eventually volunteered to become missionary. His songs rebuked me, comforts me, reminds me, and motivates me to really continue with the Lord. Now that I'm married I named my second son after Keith, his name is Keith Matthew. I pray to see him become radical for Jesus someday, just like Keith. For so many years I wasn't able to listen to his songs because casette tapes became obsolete. I requested my friends in the States to give me a Keith Green CD Album. She send me Volume 1 of The Ministry Years 1977-79. Praise God I'm still enjoying his music now that I'm in my 50's. God's anointing in his songs never changes...it continue to minister to my broken hearts, keeps on encouraging me to continue no matter what. His life truly ministers up to now through his songs. Glory to God! for the life of Keith Green. May it continue to touch and change lives.
