Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.

I’ll start!

A great impact on my life- both his music and his life- there was no compromising of his faith.

My husband and I were newlywed August 1979. We enjoyed playing Keith's No Compromise album loudly in our home all the time as we soaked in the radical truth he so boldly proclaimed. Oh the memories bring tears now as I type... I believe that for me and my husband a new Christian at the time that Keith's music influenced our lifestyle radically and was instrumental in our determination to make our home Christ centered without compromise. Kieth was God's messenger of truth and the message remains in our hearts.

I think our church going to work on this song for Easter this year, but they want me to lead. Never did it before and no where near Keith's talents, decided to check out this site here, and now know how it should be done. For Jesus. Simple as that. You showed me how to be humble and give it all up to our Lord and Saviour. Thank you. Melody-fitting name for this site-praise God for your ministry. He's risen, hallelujah!

People at my youth group in the late 70s introduced me to Keith Green, and God gave me a warning through the song "Unless the Lord builds the house" shortly before I took a nose dive into a very sinful life in my late teens, that included immorality and abortion. I was so lost and so prodigal. My parents were praying for me. Then one day, after Keith died, in the early 80s, I pulled that old last days newsletter and albums that the youth group had given me off the shelf. I listened to the song "the Prodigal Son". God spoke to my heart that day. Tears just ran down my face and I came running back to Jesus and fell on my knees begging Him to have mercy on me and forgive my horrible, dark sins (I was filthy!) and take me back. He did! I have been serving Him ever since, and now I talk to young women considering abortion and encourage them to choose life for their babies (that due to Melody's influence!) and I lead them to Jesus and disciple them. I don't deserve His mercy ( I was a pastor's daughter- I knew better). But I am so very, very grateful for His mercy! It has become the fuel for the rest of my life serving Him!
Just a few years ago (maybe 7 ?) , I had a dream about Keith. In my dream, I walked into the building of the old church my dad used to pastor. I was standing in the foyer, but heard music coming from the sanctuary. I realized it was Keith's voice and piano. I ran into the sanctuary and there he was playing and singing his heart out! I yelled in excitement, "Keith!!! You're alive!!!!" and He laughed and called out, "Well of course I'm alive!! God is not the God of the dead but of the living!!!!" And then I woke up. I will never forget that dream! And I will never doubt the resurrection! It was so real, Melody! He was so alive! God bless you, Melody! Thank you for your influence on me, and for continuing to share Keith's messages. We serve a risen Savior!

In the 1980s, I first heard Keith sing "The Lord is my Shepherd." I would sing that song in my car with the tears streaming down my face. Not too long after that, I went through some difficult times, and "the Grace by Which I Stand" became one of my favorites. Keith's music has had a way of seeing me through the dark times, and helping my soul to be restored. My faith has faltered through the years, but God is merciful, and Keith's music seems to help me find my way back.
The book "No Compromise" has been a real inspiration to me, and I shared it with my oldest son. It is interesting to see that it is on his "books to read" list.
God bless you, as you continue His work.

I was with the Navigators at New Life Ranch in Siloam Springs Arkansas I met some guys who were going into a ministry to China with Roy Robertson and I had a one on one with Roy Robertson. He told me I was not ready. I went to a concert and met Keith and his words about the Love of Christ changed me in a way I can not describe. Wasn't emotional as much as spiritual and ready to get into action. I had pit falls between being 19 years old and now 53 my memories of Keith preaching through music and testimony through music like nobody else. Like Enoch Keith was transported and really never saw death on his path to Heaven.

When I was 16 years old (I think, I may have been 17), I went to get my hair cut at a barbershop around the corner from my house. This was back in the late 70's. The young lady cutting my hair had a Keith Green album playing and she began to talk to me about Keith's music and about God and Jesus Christ. After the haircut, she gave me her copy of "For Him Who Has Ears To Hear." When I got home and listened to the first song "Your Love Broke Through" I began weeping. After much turmoil and pain in my teenage life, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior when I 18. I thank God for placing this young lady at the barbershop into my life, and I thank God for Keith Green. His music introduced me to my Savior many years ago (I'm 50 now). His musical ministry has blessed so much through the years, through good and bad times. I know I'll see Keith in Heaven and I look forward to embracing him and thanking him for what he has meant to me.

I was a young teen when I first came to hear about this radical guy who loved Jesus and proclaimed His truth. I have such awesome memories of that time. When I began listening to his music, Keith was already in heaven...and I think that that knowledge was even more impactful to my life cuz his music was still so strong and alive. Thank you Keith for real worship music...in its truest form. Can't wait to meet you some day brother.

I was in my twenties when I first heard Keith's music and it has had a profound influence on the depths of my spirituality based on Keith's (and Melody's) love and thirst for Jesus. So many of the lyrics and music are inspired by the Holy Spirit, therefore, they resonate within our souls and help empower us to Go To The Hungry Ones who need our material and spiritual gifts. I often pray that "my flesh is tired of seeking God, but on my knees I stay...." And the beauty of it all is that music is praying twice and then some!!
