Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.

I’ll start!

I first heard of Keith Green in the 80s, in Zimbabwe. We were poor and could not afford Bibles, Christian literature let alone Music. LDM had an extraordinary 'whatever you can afford' offer for their music. It sounded too good to be true, but when the LDM magazine and Vanyls started coming through the post, it changed our Home groups, our Scripture Unions and Fellowship Meetings. Thank you very much guys, Keith's music opened so many eyes. God Bless you

My dad use to play Keith Green records over and over, and I was so young at the time but I remember feeling the Love and power of God through the voice of Keith Green. I've struggled with a lot of things in life, however,I rededicated my life to Jesus about 1 month ago. I started listening to Keith Green again and it brought back so many wonderful memories. Keith Green set a good example of what a Christian ought to be. I just want to do so much for the Lord.

Growing up my parents had an incredible love for Jesus. They had both had such a wonderful relationship with the Lord. My dad would sit out in the hallway play his guitar and sing us kids to sleep every night. He would sing songs of worship to the Lord. I remember watching him with his eyes closed as he whole heartedly worshiped the King of Kings. When I was 17 my dad had a grand mal seizure. We soon found out he had stage 4 brain cancer. It broke our hearts to see my dad go through what he went through but he never complained he just worshiped the Lord. On the night he was dying I remember my mom and sister singing Lord your beautiful your face is all I see for when your eyes are on this child your grace abounds to me. I let those words sink in. After my dad died I back slide and got into things that were not good for my relationship with the Lord. I youtubed Lord your beautiful one day when I was missing my dad and started listening to Keith Greens music. His songs were so powerful and went right along with scripture. One day soon I will be worshiping at my Saviors feet and I'm thankful He has given us songs to praise Him here on earth til that day.

Keith Green died the summer before my senior year of high school. For years I had listened and loved his music as a young teen, there was always a blessing with each song. My parents brought us up in the Pentecostal church, the worship was always filled with the holy spirit, always the presence of the Lord. I am almost 50 years old now and have had some tough times, fell away from God, lost my way, made mistakes. 9 months ago I cried out to God and simply said, " Jesus, help me!". I didn't know how to be a Christian anymore and I longed for that deep relationship with God that I knew was still somewhere inside from when I was that young teenager. God walked into my heart and I grabbed ahold and I haven't let go! My life has been transformed, some of my circumstances have remained yet I have peace and joy in the midst of the storm. Keith always talked about total obedience, not just going through the motions but actually making Jesus a part of every aspect of your life. Everyday I feel the real presence of God and I am completely blown away. Yesterday, I felt an urging to listen to Keith Green again. The moment I heard his music it brought me back to the place I was as a teenager, when the Holy Spirit was a constant presence in my life. As I listened to song after song I tried to sing along but the anointing was so strong I literally fell to the floor crying, thanking God for saving me. Keith Green will never be forgotten, his music is as alive now as it was 30 years ago. Praise God! I know Keith is up there in heaven with his 2 babies smiling down on us, he accomplished what God intended for him to do in the short time he spent here on earth and God took him home. Thank you Keith.

Keith was one of the main influences in my life, when I want to get in a repentive frame of mind, I play Keith`s music. I was at the Keith Green Memorial Concert and I believe the 2nd Chapter of Acts was there too. I have stumbled around some as a Christian, there is a battle between the flesh and the spirit, any time I fall, I well play Keith's music, it helps me to repent and get back on the straight and narrow. Thank you Melody for all the hard work you have done, you are totally awesome. You have kept Keith`s memory alive, and have really encouraged me. Thank you and God Bless you all!!!

Im a 46 year old father of 3 and 4 grandchildren....for most of my life i have had a wandering heart trying to fill it with drugs, alchohal, sex and anything i could get my hands on that the world had to offer. I was raised in a pseudo Christian home and was never really taught about the grace, mercy and love that Jesus has for us so i was always left empty because of what i believed which led to a life of pain and bad choices.
i was married at the age of 23 and had many one night stands at bars. my wife and i seperated several times but always reconciled. By the time i was ready to get serious she was fed up and did her own thing which brought more heartache to our family. we again reconciled and started going to church in which i brought my previous beliefs into and it never really sank in. One day a friend gave me this Cassette and told me have you ever heard of Keith Green and i said no. He told me these are great lyrics but the music is kinda out dated (70's) and asked me to give it a shot. Since then i have graduated to Keiths CDs greatest hits and have burned a hole in them. Keiths ability to bring his passion and heartfelt belief to what he was singing about has inspired me to live a better and more productive Christian life with VICTORY!!! Many a time i have put Keiths CD in and felt Gods presence...which helped me through some tough days. Keiths music has also inspired me to want to sing and learn guitar to sing in our church. Ive started to write lyrics in a journal and there is a side to me i didnt know i had. Thank you Melody for continuing the ministry even when, and no one would have blamed you, for not quitting and blaming God after losing your Husband and two beautiful babies in such a horribble way...you are a inspiration as well with such a profound belief in our heavenly father...God Bless your passion and ministry....amen. Sincerely Steven La Rue Hanford ,Ca

I am so grateful for Keith's music. If it were not for his pay what you can afford, I would not have been able to listen to his music that impacted my everyday life. I used to pray and play his music in the background. It really helped me connect with God in powerful ways and would never let me get by without weeping.

Keith's ministries have greatly strengthened my Christian Life. In effect, when we formed a non-profit organization here in the Philippines, we named it NEW MAN'S LAST DAYS MINISTRIES IN THE PHILIPPINES. God bless us all and our ministries with His richest blessings!

In 1977, I became a born again believer I Harlingen, Texas. My life was a mess but God found me. Keith Green's music was the first Christian tape I owned. Here I am almost 39 years later and I can still remember the lyrics. I thank God for his music in my early walk with Christ.

I went to one of the last concerts Keith had here in Ca,when I was in high school. When I came home from school, I heard he had died, along with two of his gorgeous children, and my heart broke. Absolutely love his music, still play them today,at 53, turning up the sound in the car and singing right along, and sometimes crying. My oldest son used to listen also, and my gr.son too. Have his piano books, unfortunately tho.,I dont play them with justice, One of the best, or the best in my book. Thanks for keeping him alive, God Bless
