Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.
I’ll start!

I didn't hear of Keith's music until I was a young mother in the early eighties. A friend told me about him and his music. His music was so worshipful and convicting. I will never forget the powerful message he delivered and continues to deliver. I praise God for his life and the immense impact he made in so many lives. He was mightily used and is still bringing people back to a true worship of God. We need more song writers like him...what has happened to Christian music, nowadays it's almost always about us and our needs and not about God and His will. Lord bring us another Keith Green, we are thirsty for true worship and true praise!!!

I first heard Keith's songs as a teenager in the 80's. It was fantastic to have both great music and Christian content. His voice was a great encouragement and the first thing I did when I came home from a stressful day at school was to listen to my Keith Green tapes. Now just turning 50 I have been blessed by reading "No Compromise" and have really appreciated hearing the full story and it has been very encouraging but also challenging to rexamine my life as a Pastor's Wife. His call to Godly living is as fresh as ever. I want to thank Melody for investing so much time in sharing their deeply personal story. Christian Biographies are such a good investment!!! Thank you so much and God bless you in your ongoing living out your faith. Looking forward to celebrating together in Glory!!!

I am in my 50s and remember as a teenager being desperate to get my hands on some decent Christian music back in the 80s . Keith Green did it for me. My brother and I listened to his music all the time. So inspiring. Loved his biography book too.

I began listening to Keith about 31 years ago. He came highly recommended by my oldest brother who was witnessing to me at the time but I had yet to come to the Lord. Long story short, Keith lit a fire under me from the moment I listened to his and the accompanying 'stars' ensemble and I basically cut my teeth on this music from what I consider a musical genius. Beyond music, his messages through his work are as pure and to the point of what Christianity should be and could be like that I have treasured and been inspired by him over the past 30+ years. Recently the Lord has prompted me to return to the 'fire' and original match of my devotion and early christian years and with nothing less that my absolute best for Jesus. Needless to say as I listened to some of Keith's music very recently he transcended the years and even today is helping to turn me back into the ball of flames I should be. I have to say for giggles that I was in love with this gentleman the moment I saw him because back in 'those years' I had an afro that would have been a perfect match for his (and I'm as anglo as the best of them!). I know we should celebrate his life and the fact he is with The Master but I cannot help to think what the entire world has missed out on without him these 31 years. If ten of us did 50% of his ministry we could triple the number of Christians in a I say, let's do it anyways, do it for Jesus and go ALL IN to honor this beloved man's memory and wishes. God touch and bless you Melody and your family, I was crying a little last night listening to 'Pledge my Head to Heaven' as he sings about rather being found dead than to prioritize even his family over Jesus. Raises the hair on my neck every time I hear him and my spirit jumps inside of me. We are ALL called to action, LET's GO CHURCH!

Hi Melody, the first book that I ever read of Keith's was A cry in the wilderness and then No Compromise. Then I heard the songs Lord gave you both. I had been a christian all my life. But I had never pledged my head to Jesus for the gospel. I longed for a relatioship with the Lord but always ended up lazy and unwilling to pay the prize. Iv shared the gospel to some friends with whom I was comfortable. But to others I did not because I feared how they would react. I was a selfish coward. When I read the books I had a desire to grow close to Jesus and I will do it somehow with His love and help. And I had the desire to share the goodnews to all without fear. I'm praying that His love will fill my heart and cast away all my fear. I finished reading No compromise today and and my heart felt so sad thinking about the loss of a brethren in Christ. But we also have hope in Christ. Melody, I just wanna say that I love you and your family and you all will always be in my prayers. Your daughter in Christ, ASWATHY. :) God bless. :)

My husband introduced me to Keith' s music in 1983. It continues to touch my spirit today! My husband worked at one of the early Christian radio stations (KYMS) in Orange County, CA and was fortunate to have met and interviewed Keith, as well as getting a peek behind the scenes backstage at a concert. My husband says his intensity and passion for Jesus was riveting. Many blessings Melody to you and your girls, and all involved in Last Days Ministries. Keith's legacy is amazing!

Actually my son, Shane, introduced us to Keith Green's music soon after he got saved.
We ( his parents) thought the music was a bit heavy, but Shane always said:" listen to the words, mom." So we did and even subscribed to the Last Days Newsletter. Our son died suddenly at the age of 25, leaving a wife and newborn behind. He was just beginning to grow in his faith after being saved as a teenager.
It was a pleasure to read your book. It took me back to the early years of our Christian journey. God has been faithful in our lives through many trials. Keith's music touched our hearts as well as those of my children. We are so thankful for Keith's life and to the One who stirred him to reach the lost.
May God continue to bless you, your family, and ministry. In His Name, Candace Beers Tulsa, OK

I used to get the Last Days Ministries brochure in England - what a blessing! My friend "Alan Cain" showed me the "Songs of the Shepherd" album. - Keith's music transformed my Christian walk.... I had a goal, that one day I would be able to play - "The Lord is my Shepherd" And in 1992 played it at Christ for the Nations (USA) for my piano recital - with tears of God's faithfulness.... I never met Keith Green but I am indebted to his ministry. Giving the Church such beautiful music as There is a Redeemer, Create in me a clean heart etc. His passion for Jesus was overwhelming! My youngest son (18) every day plays Keith's music on his ipad - It breaks my heart that Keith is not here today among us - But his music will last and challenge every generation to the glory for God. May we all be "Bananas for Jesus".

The day Keith died, I had already made plans with friends to see him perform in Chicagoland in just a few days. I remember where I was standing when I heard the news. It was that big of a deal.

I never got to hear him live or meet him as I'd done with so many other CCM artists of the day.

Just now I sang the 23rd Psalm while sitting alone needing some divine guidance, then googled to find this website. I find myself singing unforgettable Keith Green songs all the time, despite that technology has left all my recordings of his music 20 years in the past.

I don't remember the last time I heard Keith's recorded voice, yet it was so distinct that I can hear it in my head perfectly even now. The wit, wisdom, sarcasm, passion & overall prophetic nature of his entire being came out through his music like no one else I've ever heard before or since. And oh that piano style. Wow.

I'm a professional musician, daughter of a professional musician. So that's saying a lot.

I was in my young twenties and I got my first LP Of Keith and it inspires my life and faith. One of my favorite is "Make my Life a prayer to you" and still is my heart cry today. God bless the music as it still lives on in our heart today.
