Still Speaking after 31 Years in Heaven

Share Your Memories of Keith Green

Keith Green FB Share Your Memo
We want to give everyone an opportunity to share their memories of how Jesus used Keith to impact their life.  And gather all the stories in one place for everyone to enjoy.

Keith sure impacted my life.  After Jesus, he was my biggest influence.  Keith modeled giving everything to Jesus, not wanting celebrity, caring for the poor, taking people off the streets, and reaching into prisons.  We did that from the start together.

I would love to know what your story is.  How did Keith impact your life?  Were you at a concert?  Was it through the music?  Are you in ministry?  On the mission field?

How did Keith impact you, and what are you doing now that you think you might not be doing — if not for his influence?

Please share your story in the comment section below.

I’ll start!

Every time I hear "Make my Life a Prayer to You" I feel the Spirit of God who spoke through Keith as well- he was the only artist I ever cared to see in person as I could see and feel that he ministered not entertained- he went home on the same day as my mother- that impacted me in a big way- I thank the Lord for both of their lives- I was touched deeply from their lives in incredible ways- miss my mom terribly as I know Keith is missed as well?

I have loved Keiths music from the time I first became a Christian in 1982. The phrase that always sticks in my mind is "Going to church doesnt make you a christian anymore than going to Macdonalds makes you a hamburger!" The book No Compromise really inspired my in my Christian walk. Blessings to you and the family. x

I was 13 years old when Keith went home. His music was the only Christian influence I had growing up in a non-Christian home. My aunt and uncle took me to Jesus West Coast in Santa Rosa to meet with him and Melody about an adoption. It was the only time I would see him live. A year later I would give my heart to Jesus at a summer camp. Keith would disciple me through his albums. I hope to see him banging on that piano in heaven someday with that crazy afro bouncing up and down!

In my teens I listened to Keith's music and subscribed to your last days newsletters Melody, you are so generous to send them. I believe the album title "No Compromise" has given me strength when it comes to righteous living, an unswerving faith matched by the powerful and melodic messages from Keith's heart. He resonates with King David and the Psalms so closely.... In 1982 I performed the "Easter Song" on for a women's meeting on my flute. In a rehearsal my supervising Principal stated "Wow, did you feel the holy spirit, he was touched deeply" Music and words have this effect, to reach into our very souls. Keith's words and music are very blessed and powerful, the heavens and our loved ones who have gone before, surely love his work... Thank you Keith and Melody for your amazing life witness to the world. Kristine

I first heard Keith on an record my brother had.I LOVED it.Bought it and then would listen to Keith on his live albums talk[preach] I loved his passion and genuine willingness to please God.He sang in a big gymnasium in Washington State...[Seattle or Tacoma]I don't remember.I was near the front row on the hard floor but it was worth it to be near the sound of him masterfully playing the piano and again so much passion and love for God. I remember he spit on me I was so close when he was singing.I guess I was a Keith Green "groupie" as a young 20yr old excited he spit on me! LOL The day he died I felt like I had lost an older brother. He was bigger than LIFE....and sadly I think that bigness hurt him in a way because he thought he was bigger than gravity with all those people in his plane.

I became a believer in Jesus Christ in 1985 and shortly after was given a tape by Keith Green. The prodigal son spoke volumes to me and my life before Christ. Keith's music and last day ministry tract book discipled me through the early years and still resonates in my spirit today after all these years. Thank you Lord for your witness through the Green family who have impacted people for Jesus Christ the world over. I am from Wellington, New Zealand.

I became a Christian in 1982, reluctantly. I have always loved music, and I believe that if it hadn't been for the music of Keith Green I may have given up hope! Keith's music was so challenging that you just had to take it seriously. Many years later, while on a mission to Poland, I found his autobiography in a bookcase next to my bed! I read Keith & Melody's story and realised - for the first time - just how close they came to seeing a giant revival. His ministry was tragically cut short. As far as I can tell, no-one has since taken his place. There is a great need for people like Keith today, and a great need for music that can connect with young believers searching for truth.

When I turned 18, I had already had (7 years) a past of living a wild life. At 18 I gave my life to Jesus....He made my life beautiful and brand new. Living in the Willamette Valley, we got to see Keith a lot. Myself and other Christian friends didn't miss, not even one, of Keith's concerts. He was so on fire about Jesus. He was and still is an awesome role model for true Christianity. I had all of his cassette tapes. And went to a lot of Jesus Northwest gatherings. I also had all of your tracts and pamphlets, I had read them so much that I went around telling others about there content. You had also inspired me to talk to any one that I knew was pregnant and going to have an abortion. After talking with them, they decided not to have an abortion, but to keep their babies. I stood in as their couch, so I would get to see the babies being born! Those were the days, so young and so free and so filled with Jesus' love for others and loving Him back! I totally broke our hearts when he went home to be with Jesus. He was so missed. P.S. I was wondering if you still have those tracts and pamphlets available. If so where might I find them again!!!

The biographical book "No Compromise" greatly impacted my life and has continued to encouraged me in my Christian walk.

"The Sheep And The Goats" music video with its very graphic pictures has also continued to influence many that I have shared it with over the years to walk in discipleship and recognise who their brother/sister really is.
